RoadiJeff We removed the hard top the other day and took some friends for a drive who were visiting from Australia. My wife was explaining the Jeep wave when we saw one coming at us. Fortunately, he waved. I said, "See there?". They thought it was cool.

Ok. I've never leased so I'm not familiar with the limitations.

Georgepink Yeah it was funny to see, I ride a bike too and don't just wave at other Harley's. If your on two wheels, or now, in a wrangler, you're getting a wave from me.

Bonecollector I catch myself waving at Wranglers even when I'm driving my truck. ( It becomes habit after while thus I forget I'm in the truck). I get waves back or at least some fingers in the air off the wheel about 60% of the time when in the Jeep. If I don't get a wave in return I just chalk it up to me waving at the Wrangler not the driver. You may also notice Jeeps like to park next to Jeeps in parking lots, and after you do some mods (if you do) you will notice guys looking at your suspension, tire sizes and even on hands and knees to get a better look. First time I saw it I thought he was trying to steal my wife's JKU. It was quite funny when I walked up and he asked what kind of shocks I was running......I catch myself doing the same crazy stuff anymore.

Welcome to this "thing of ours."

Evvy Thomas JK It's such a habit for me now I even wave when Im driving my work truck.. A semi. People are probably thinking, Oh.. HI, trucker.??

SteveC1187 Thanks I figured it was just wanted to double check

Bobes its an actual thing. jeeps wave at eachother just like harleys and corvettes (at least vettes used to not so sure anymore)
07-08-2014 05:07 PM
mastrcruse Wranglers and waves go together. Welcome! Wave to all other wranglers even if they don't wave back. You'll eventually start waving even walking down the street haha.

Jeep wave

I'm new to the jeep world, just leased a 2014 jeep unlimited sport 4 dr and I'm noticing guys with other wranglers waving at me, kinda of like what Harley Davidson n motorcycle guys do. So I was wondering if it was an actual thing or are people just nice around my area with other wranglers ? Thanks

x100. If you live in Montana half the vehicles are wranglers. Not sure if you ever go to Sturgis during bike week (have not missed a single time since 1999 and first one was 1977) nobody waves lol as your freaking arm would fall off. If I am in the middle of no where I would probably wave but chances are I would wave at a guy on a tractor too lol.

4LinkFan And what about the Toyota guys who say stuff like "I don't need a Jeep Thang" all sarcastic like.... I hate that condesending BS. We all share the trails and if someone is broke down on the trail it maters not what type of rig they are in I am gonna stop and lend a hand.

I drive a JK as a daily driver and wave to all jeeps.

In my book a 20 yr old vehicle is new. If I didn't wave to folks in vehicles newer than my 1931, I wouldn't wave much.

I wave to all wranglers. My wife laughs at how adamant I am and tells me I am too eager. I get about 60% waving back.

I haven't even used the AC yet. I'm assuming it works.

Pittsburghwrangler There is 1 young lady around here that i see alot. She drives a jacked up black tj with 33's and she NEVER waves at me! This leads me to think that she either bought it like that or it is her boyfriend's jeep. When i was more stock i thought she was being a jeep snob but now that i have chopped up bumpers and bigger tires i dont think that is it. I think she is just clueless about the wave! I must educate her!

pepatrick I have a 2013 JKU and wave most the time. Some times i get caught up admiring the other Jeep and forget to wave. I gotta say that the wave back % is far higher than not getting the wave back. Sure it happens but most the time fellow jeepers wave...even women in JKUs.

Of course, there were times when I didn't have a car myself do to having a company car. Yep, no Wranglers there as dictated by my company I worked for.

Finally got my first TJ in 04. A beautiful 02 with 12K miles, 4 cylinder stick soft top. Loved being part of the Jeepin' community!!!! Didn't have much time to mod her though, as shortly after, I was divorced and forced to give her up in the settlement.

10 years later, I am finally able to get another. I still have needs of many vans and sedans as I have 5 boys( 2 1/2 at home ) and 1 on the way, but was able to get me a great old 97 Sport to play with and build.

I am amazed that how in ten short years, Soooooo many more Wranglers are now on the road. Do I think Jeep sold out. Yes, but I can not blame them. The market was there and they have a great product with a demand for the vehicle. Am I dismayed when some "yuppie soccer mom or suited city slicker" who will never go off road or get even the littlest amount of mud drives by and looks at me funny when I wave. Yes, but there are still plenty of old CJs, YJs and TJs out there driving around that get it and when my seven year old waves at them out the side of my topless, doorless TJ, they wave back and make my boys and my day!!!!

I must admit though, even some of those driving around in the new JKU's around here get it, and they wave too!!!!

So keep cool and wave on!!!!
