This was last summer. I made my stock hard top into a "sunrider" hard top. It was pretty easy. I drew the line I wanted to cut, then used a jigsaw, bolted on some hinges, added door trim and glued on some weather stripping. All I had to do was unlatch the front and get out and flip it back. Drove it on the highway open without issue (if your jeep is in a position where this would flip forward, there are bigger problems) but it did bounce a bit so I started tossing a strap over it and to the center roll bar. Anyway, the weatherstripping didn't do its job, the thing leaked like crazy, completely soaked seats, so I would leave the plugs out of the floor and keep the seats tumbled forward on days it might rain. Also I was worried about the stress of the hinges possibly cracking the hard top around the screws, so I'm not certain about how structurally sound it was. I know they make two piece hard tops, which are crazy expensive, so this is a cheap way to do it with an existing top, plus it flips back rather than lifting off. But the roof really should be reinforced (fiberglass maybe?) under the hinges, and needs a better way to keep water out, maybe an overlapping channel like the two piece tops have.
I have a soft top now, so this top sits out back, but I plan to re visit it and try to fix those issues. It still would be cool to use in the spring/fall when it's colder but I might get an occasional nice day and flip it back, and I'll run my soft top in the summer.

Right now I've got a 3.5 to RCA going from the EQ to a bluetooth receiver and the tablet auto-connects to the bluetooth when the screen turns on. Everything fit so tight I can't get a 3.5 jack into the tablet because the vent will be in the way, but I do worry the bluetooth takes away some sound quality, even though it sounds pretty good. But I've had the bluetooth lose connection for some reason and that's inconvenient. I might just have to modify the edge of the vent somehow to allow the jack some clearance. On that note, the USB cable to power the tablet is putting some stress on the tablet's USB port I'm sure, because that's a very tight bend as well.

Mead....just use flexible hose for the vents or was the stock movable?
I thought I was done with my Jeep but now Im considering this lol. I have a tablet sitting around doing nothing lol.
Hows the sound? Im assuming your using a 3.5 audio jack that splits to standard RCA?

I FINALLY got to drive it with the new 4.88 gears.
Hot damn, I love it.
So today I drove it for the first time with but all not installed today:
4.88s instead of 3.55s
New axle bearings, seals etc.
New ball joints
New hubs and wheel bearings
New U joints every where in the axles too.
Didnt push anything at all yet. Taking the break in very seriously. The only bad news is I have to take it apart again when I get my Chromo shafts in. Wasnt till putting it back together that we realized there is a slightly twisted rear shaft.
Surprised the 44 twisted before the HP30.

Painted my hood hinges flat black.
Replaced my blinker and side markers with a darker ones, bulbs are orange and the lenses aren't that dark so it is visible.
Put the decal on the hood. I order these with Andy his name here is 10tonvinyl he does great work, price is right, and quality is top notch. Thanks again brother.

Thanks, here's a couple pics of the process.
Here's the dash cut away, and what I did for amps. I bought a 4ch and 2ch Punch amp and they are small enough to stuff in the corners and just clear the back of the crossover.
Here's how I made a template, first with some foam board, then cut out of 20 gauge sheet metal. (I learned that a Dremel is a frustratingly slow way to cut holes in sheet metal and that I need to buy an angle grinder.)
Here's the side view of the components together. I was able to take the face off my CB and rotate it 90 degrees since it is connected with ribbon cables. It never would have fit in there straight back. The crossover barely fits, the RCA cables get smooshed against the defroster vent, but it just makes it.
And finally, A straight on picture, day/night.
The blue LED light from the crossover is almost blinding at night, I wish it had a dimmer, but I'll look for one that is either not so bright, or maybe have a flip cover for it or something.
