BoogerJeep12 It really is frustrating I've been with the company for 10 years and never filed a claim and this is how they repay me? by sticking me with a vehicle that I coudnt get rid of without taking a bath. I paid 29k for the thing less than a year ago. I'm hoping the body shop helps me force the issue to total it out and I can just get the new '13 Gecko Rubicon they have sitting in the showroom.

jeepers29 Carfax will show the damage when it is time to sell it. I am a little surprised that the insurance co. is not going to total it with that much damage.

cattlebaron I don't know anything technical or about insurance but that would make me push hard for totaling it out. I can't imagine it wouldn't damage the value significantly. Ask if the title changes to salvage or something because of this. If it did, that would be totaled to me.

Question about Frame Replacement

I have a 2012 Wrangler Sport S with 40k miles and I hit a tire and wheel off of a semi that was rolling down the interstate at me in the dark at an unknown speed while going 70. Hit right on drivers side frame rail. damage looked minimal until i noticed every gap was wonky and the roof was leaking like a strainer. Took to body shop and the frame is diamonded and all the body mounts are tweaked. Insurance company reccomended they fix the frame damage but the frame machine at my dealer wasnt strong enough (I didnt want a bent frame fix anyway) so now the insurance company is insisting on doing a Total Frame Replacement. Is this common or should i REALLY push for them to total it? What is having a frame replacement going to do to my resale/trade value? I dont want to get stuck with a turd that I'll never be able to get anything out of. Any advice?
