idiot magnet You can run a 2" budget boost, 1 1/4" BL and 1" MML and clear 33's. The jeep will handle the same and it's much cheaper than buying a complete lift. Depending on your rims and backspacing you might need some spacers to keep your tires from rubbing. Drive it like that for a while and then decide on a good quality lift when the Jeep bug really takes hold and you want to do a big upgrade. Check your stock suspension, steering, control arms for any play or worn out parts while you are at it.

idiot magnet Read up on what you need to run 35's. That's a big jump and your brakes and steering need to be upgraded along with new gears. Try to avoid the cheap suspension lifts because you will be replacing them sooner than later. Look into a 3" suspension, 1 1/4" body lift and 1" motor mount lift, adjustable track bars and the list goes on and on. BDS, OME, Currie, Savvy are good lifts and try to avoid the rough country, skyjacker and lower end lifts.
If it's just for looks and mild off-roading then look into 33's and not 35's.

3" or 4" Suspension Lift

I have a 97 (standard trans) 4.0 Wrangler and I am ready to give it a lift. As most of you know everyone has an opinion, but I am ready to get advice from Jeep owners. I will do some off roading, but nothing too extreme. My question is this...If I go with a 4" lift and 35's will I need to re-gear? This is not my daily driver, but I really don't want to give up a lot of top end speed. Thanks in advance for the advice.
