|ChrisJeepTJ||I have a 32RH and don't experience this prob. I'm not a mech, but try cleaning your throttle body, IAC, and TPS with throttle body cleaner and reassemble. Make sure the TPS looks ok and report back.|

the old trans. have the same problems, but its died [i think] for other problem [oil, converter, etc.]
this swapped transmission works fine and have only this one problem [3-2] [after 1 week swapped and 200 miles driven!?], but its realy annoying, when i drive in city and all the time without stop i drive on 3rd gear, and slowly speeds up after corners without downshifting into 2nd gear. i must add a much gas and power, and only this way the tranny downshifts to 2nd
and i have bad feeling - dont want a second death transmission in the car

|jeepfever84||my 2000 sahara has been this way since I've had it and I've tried to search it also and can't find anything .it hasn't caused any problems but is still kind of annoying.was your old trans. the same way or did it downshift on its own|

Any ideas, guys ?
I think, is a valve body problem, or band - or something similar.

The cable adjustment is OK. The 1-2 and 2-1 shifts are absolutely Okay.
I tried to shorten the cable - the upshifts goes up, shifts at higher RPS and higher speeds. Bud nothing happened with 3-2 donwshift without wide open throttle [when breaking the car].
I think, this is not the cable adjustment problem, because the cable adjustment is good and works perfect. The problem is only within the 2-3-2 shifts, and specially the 3-2 downshift when the car slows down. It not downshifts from 3 to 2, but downshifts to low gear immediately.
When the speed drops bellow to 12 mph the trans. is still in 3rd gear. When the speed drops bellow cca. 10 mph then it shifts into 1st gear without 2nd !
Edit: when i select at lower speed the "2" instead "D" its immediately downshifts without any problems - but if i drive in D, it does not downshift automatically.
[i solved it, it's a manual transmission]

|jeepfever84||I also have the 32rh in my sahara and it does the same thing.i adjusted the kickdown to hold the gear a little longer and still it downshifts from 3rd to 1st.i really don't mind because with the kickdown a little tighter it downshifts with the pedal easier.i don't really know why it downshifts like that the tranny seems healthy and I service it regularly.any takers?|

The TC (kickdown) cable may be misadjusted. You'll find the adjustment for that cable's length next to the throttle body where it is held to its mounting bracket.
There is a small white (IIRC) clip that you pull out a tad to unlock the cable length adjustment. Adjust the outer cable forward or back in its holder so the inner cable is neither being pulled by the throttle body lever nor has any slack. That cable just needs to be so there is no slack in it nor being pulled any by the throttle lever when it is at rest. The cable should only get pulled on when you step on the gas pedal.

32RH - 3-2 bad downshift
Hi. I have problems with the 32RH transmission.
In my TJ swapped the transmission to younger one - because the old tranny is death. But the new one have problems after a week of riding it too.
I drived it longer in light offroad at low speeds with gear selected to "2" - and when i come back to onroad conditions, the transmission do not downshift 3-2 at low speeds [corners, etc.] - if the speed drops too much, the tranny shifts 3-1 !
It downshifts from 3-2 only when the throttle is wide open and i add much more gas - everything works fine. But it not downshifts, when the gas pedal is released, and breaking to lower speeds - this is when the trans. do not downshift, or downshift only from 3 to 1 when the speed drops too low !
And i think, the 2-3 upshift is too early and the trans. goes too short in 2nd gear.
I am confused, because the old tranny do the same thing earlier, before death. Dont have any idea what is the problem. I think, the adjustments in the service [when swapped the tran.] is not good and cause problems with this downshifting 3-2 and 2-3 upshift.
Is this caused by front band adjustment, or what ? How is possible to adjust the 2-3 upshift and 3-2 downshift to better ? Want to 2-3 upshift at higher speeds, and 3-2 downshift at higher speeds too [need 3-2, no 3-1!]. The linkage adjustment is OK, and the 1-2 / 2-1 works perfectly !
Any help, please...
