Xpress Everything in the driveline and wiring will have to go depending on which 6 cylinder you go with. The Transfercase will work just fine behind the 6, but you will need to change the input shaft in it to mate with the bigger transmission output spline.

gunslinger24 From the research I've done, it's a big undertaking. Plus unless you buy a crate motor, you are probably going to want to rebuild the 6.

My plan is to rebuild my 4 banger .30 over, mild cam and a bit more compression.

wrangleryj90 Same thing goes with that you will need a different trans and all the wiring moved over

Jeffreyh OOPS!! I want to remove the 4 and replace it with a 6! Sorry!

Squirrel 442 Well that is a first. The trans won't mount up without a kit. Why not rebuild the 6? I don't think their is a huge diff in MPGs. What is the reason you want to swap?

wrangleryj90 Why would you do this? And it's just as hard as any swap plus you would want to re gear axles and everything

6 for 4??

How tough is it to swap a 6 cylinder for a 4? and, is it cheaper to rebuild or replace a 4? on a 94 yj renegade I haven't done any significant engine work for 20 years... Thanks!
