Jerry Bransford Cycling on-off too often can indicate the a/c system needs to be recharged.

Jaxon1023 There are two types of systems: the kind where the compressor stays engaged constantly when the A/C or defrost mode is selected and the kind that cycle on and off when the A/C or defrost mode is selected. Ours is supposed to cycle every few seconds.

mdezeeuw It is getting warmer here now and for some reason now I am noticing it. I have owned it for three years. It not clicking on and off at an idle just when we are driving. It blows nice and cold and that's all we want here now.

TJDave Winter, Summer, AC, Heat, doesn't matter. My '04 clicks on and off all the time. Only really noticeable when in line at the bank or running slow on a trail. Normal I believe. The only way to get it stop is to turn your climate selector to "off".

mdezeeuw Sure clicks on and off a lot. But if that's how it works, then all good! thank you.

Jaxon1023 Yes that's how our compressors operate

Air compressor will kick on and off when driving

I have a 2002 jeep TJ. My Air compressor will kick on and off while I am driving but not at idle. My ac is blowing out air that is 36 degrees. Nice and cold! Should it be clicking on and off all the time??
