Nikao On Superwinch's site, the motor itself is $235. Could probably find a deal elsewhere. But, I also see 12v DC solenoid for $110 and a 12v solenoid for $21. Do I actually need all three or just the motor? There doesn't seem to be descriptions for these, so I'm not sure what I'd be buying with each.

Found it for $460, and jumped on it. Went up to $1070 within a few minutes after placing my order.

It probably is...but, it is likely an expensive thing. I'll look into it...

How do you figure the amperage? I can find it on the 12v version, but every dealer I can find doesn't list it. It is the 1902B X9. I think the 12v is the 1901C X9.

The 12v says this according to Superwinch's website (it doesn't have the 24v anywhere on it):

Line Pull: 0 lbs 73 Amps Motor Draw / 38.2 FPM (11.6 MPM) Line Speed Line Pull: 9,000lbs 420 Amps Motor Draw / 2.5 FPM (0.8 MPM) Line Speed

Hmm...well, appears we are back to figuring out how to utilize it if I keep it. I'd like to keep it, as I got a great deal on it; but, will definitely be weighing my options in the coming days. It has already shipped, so it's too late to back out at this point or I would. Should be here Tuesday, so I will use this time to determine appropriate steps to take.

Learning is always good. I will say, if there's one positive to all of this, I have been learning a lot. Yet, the questions seem endless.

So, it will still work without completely draining my system? That would be nice. Any pros or cons to running a 24v I should be aware of? If it runs at 50%, I assume it would just have half the power of its 12v counterpart, if I had done things right. Still, it should be able to handle getting me out in an emergency in that case.

The winch I bought is a 24v, not 12v. Is it possible to still utilize this somehow? I've heard of running dual batteries, but not sure how this is supposed to work. Also heard of running a dedicated alternator and battery for the winch. That just seems like a waste since the alt and bat would ONLY be for the winch. Plus, where would I put that?

Starting to think I just royally messed up. Maybe I'll try selling the winch off on craigslist or see if I can send it back and get a refund. Not sure. But...the price was too good to pass up and I think I just took the bait without thinking.
return it?

I have great health insurance. But one of the things that are negotiated. Every contract. Prob just raise the rate weekly. Guess I wouldn't blame them though. Insurance company's really stick it to employers.
