MikeAJ87 I DD a 3.5" BDS with 35" Duratracs everyday and the only issues I've had are when I get to highway speeds (when I'm running late).

kramer2k I'd do what I did again even if mine was a DD. As long as you use quality components and dial in the settings properly on your angles and measurements it will be as tame and quality a ride as stock, if not better.

Fuel efficiency will take a hit depending on what direction you go, so you'll have to decide what balance works for you and how to strike that balance. But don't be deterred from modifying your Jeep.

chopperbobby d the same thing you want to do. I put a 2" bds coil lift on. and kept my stock tires. I drive about 60 mile round trip to work and love the ride. when my tires wore down. Not all the way but enough to convince the wife they needed to be replaced. i put on 285/70 17 and new rims with 4.5 backspacing. Love everything about the lift and tires rides great. Did have a short stint with dw right after lift install. Scared the living S*it out of me at 70 mph. but it was an easy fix.

I drove about a year with just the lift.

MTH There are many viable options.

A leveling kit is a "budget boost"--ie, pucks over your existing coils.

The term "leveling kit" is usually used when the rear pucks are only an inch, making the front pucks only 2". After that, the term "budget boost" usually applies. And budget boosts (as well as coil kits) do generally level the jeep, meaning the front pucks are taller than the rears.

You generally want to stay 2.5" and below if you're keeping stock tires. And you are generally only a good candidate for a budget boost if you're confident you want be adding heavy aftermarket bumpers etc. that are likely to sag the stock coils.

That said, if you can afford it, a full coil kit by a reputable company with some good shocks will always be better.

I have a 2.5" TeraFlex coil kit with Old Man Emu shocks and 33x12.5R15 tires. It's a great daily driver.

Daily Driver and a lift....

My 2012 JK is a daily driver and I don't plan on upgrading the tires until the current tires wear out but I would like to have some lift kit on the Jeep should I just do a leveling kit for now to see how it rides without that factory rake or get a budget boost or upgrade with a lift kit and bigger tires when the time comes? I drive 60 miles to work and haven't carried it off road that much. It spends most of its life as a pavement pounder. Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? My question is what would you do?
