|jerry74||Thanks for the info guys! This is my first wrangler and I am itching to get this thing ready and reliable for the summer! The only thing I haven't replaced is the heater core, coolant system wise. I hope it'll last for a while.|

Coolant is coolant, it's not like synthetic oil vs conventional oil. As long as its green coolant it will work, there is no "best coolant" I would recommend buying 2 gallons Coolant without water. Because once you do mix with water, that leaves you with twice the amount; plenty of leftovers. If you buy 50/50 its obviously turned into a convince thing, so then the price jumps. And your actually getting less, but paying more.
Ex: 2 Gallons of Straight Antifreeze no water, Mixed with 2 gallons water gives you 4 Gallons 50/50 :^D... 2 Gallons of 50/50 Antifreeze costs more money, but you only get 2 gallons :^(. Hmmm mix the stuff with water yourself!! Nice little tip that not very many people think of.

Use Zerex (napa sells it) or Mopar coolant...but since you flushed you can run whatever you want. If I was you i'd stick with a HOAT coolant.

Yes, I am just wanting to put what is best for my jeep in it. I didn't want to use something that I shouldn't.

For my 99 TJ 4.0 I just use regular green antifreeze from Pep Boys or wherever else (I prefer Peak or Prestone but it really doesn't matter). 10 quarts will fill the system. Buy 2 gallons of pure antifreeze and 2 gallons of DISTILLED water from the local supermarket or CVS, and pour in a 50/50 mix. You will have leftovers for next time of course.
I have also used the pre-mixed variety with good results. More expensive but it takes away the step of mixing.
The 99 4.0 does not need or want that other orange Dex-Cool antifreeze sold in the stores if that was the reason for your question.

|jeepwayoflife||For the header, they are known to crack. Look around on the header pipes for any little cracks. Are you hearing it?|

a couple of questions...
What coolant should I run in my 99 4.0 wrangler? I have flushed the coolant system, replaced the thermostat, water pump, radiator, and all hoses.
Also, it seems I have a exhaust leak somewhere around the exhaust header. Is the header on these things prone to leaking?
