Yes, the hail cracked the radiator. Unfortunately I have removed the grill cover the previous day because it was wet. That could have prevented the damage to the radiator.
At least I could replace the plastic bumper with a steel one and the car is like new again.

Where did you live in Pretoria and when?

I purchased a new Rubicon Unlimited in May 2012. I use the vehicle regularly on off-road trails and overland trails with a Jurgens XT120 off-road trailer equiped for camping in the bush. I am also a member of a local 4x4 Forum where we arrange group events and off-road trips into rural areas, game parks and neighbouring countries like Botswana.

I am very satisfied with my Rubican. During November 2012 I was in a massive hail storm and the car was damaged extensively. Spare parts are a problem to obtain and it took 4 months to be repaired by a Jeep approved panel beater. This is not acceptable to me and a basic item like a radiator is not readily available. It was quicker to import the complete fiberglass roof than to source the radiator. The total repair cost was R155 000. (New price R 425 000).

With the fuel price in SA it is expensive to keep the tank full and for this reason I rather use my VW Scirocco to commute in town.

I hope that I will learn a lot from this forum.
