|genesbro||Unless you have limited slip I would sure like to know what could have messed up your spider gears. There only function is to rotate on the pinion in the carrier to allow differential action and motionless most of the time, and move slowly when they do rotate. Oh wait I forgot these dang things don't have hubs and therefore they have to work all the time even in two wheel drive. Another reason I want to go with prorock 44s or 60s for my X with hubs.|

|JKralph||what is your current gear ratio? if it's 3.21 then you'll need a new carrier regardless|

Getting a regear, now I need new spider gears. New carrier or just new spiders?
Getting my regear today, I got a call from the shop saying that my spider gears are messed up and getting meshed together. I knew something was going to come up....
Dude says I should replace them, but he said I needed a new carrier as well. This is what he told me to get OMIX-ADA 16503.67 - Omix-Ada Front Differential Case Assembly 3.73 to 4.88 Ratio for 07-11 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK with Dana 30 - Quadratec.
I talked to a buddy of mine and he said that if I need spider gears, I shouldn't need a new carrier;said its unlikely that the carrier is mesed up. I talked to Northridge and they said the spider gears would only be 125.
Now I gotta call the mechanic tomorrow and confirm if I need a brand new carrier or just the spider gears, but Id like a little 411. my buddy said the mechanic may recommend a brand new carrier since it would be easier for him to swap out carriers instead of putting new spiders in my existing carrier but its obviously more cash. Any thoughts?
