I run 8/9 on my 33s. No bead locks. Otherwise they don't deform at all. One thing I don't like about how stiff they are.

For all you all's information

I just received a reply to my email to Goodyear corporate............

"Thank you for contacting our web site and for thinking of Goodyear for your
tire needs.

Tires that are produced with an Asymmetrical tread design are manufactured
specifically to improve handling and reduce noise, The tire can rotate in
either direction but to obtain the benefits of the asymmetrical design the
tire must be mounted with a specific side facing out. The outboard side of
the tire will be stamped "mount this side out".

If an asymmetrical tire is inadvertently mounted with the wrong side facing
out, it will cause no damage to the tire and should simply be remounted
with the proper side out so that all of the benefits of the asymmetrical
tread design will be realized.

All season tires should be rotated in a "modified X" pattern, meaning only
the tires being moved to the drive axle are crossed to the opposite side of
the vehicle. The remaining two tires are moved from the drive axle to the
free rolling axle, remaining on the same side of the vehicle. If you have a
four wheel drive vehicle, we recommend crossing both pairs of tires to
their new axle positions. These methods of rotation help promote a more
even and uniform treadwear pattern for all four tires.

The only exception to this would be the use of "directional" tread design
tires such as our Assurance TripleTred or some of our Eagle line high
performance tires. These tires would remain on the same side of the
vehicle and be rotated straight forward and straight back. If the spare
tire is being rotated in, it should be installed on the passenger side rear
wheel position, with the tire that would have gone to that location

We recommend tire rotation at least every 6,000 miles. Four wheel drive
vehicles may require rotation even sooner such as every 4,000 miles.

"I currently drive a Jeep Wrangler and use a 5 tire(with spare) tire
rotation. I am looking at the 255/75/R17 Wrangler M/T R with Kevlar. Two
questions. What special mounting factors need to be observed for the
asymmetrical tread. For example, does the wide(or small)tread pattern
always go to the inside(or outside)of the rim? Second, are there going to
be issues with this tire in a 5 tire rotation due to any special handling
of the asymmetrical tread? Thanks."

GoldenSahara00 Should be swapping to new tires in a few months once I finish swapping my axles in. So Not really worried about it. I have wheeled with them like this a lot and never had an issue. A lot of the guys on pirate run them backwards without issue.

Moabrubi I didn't really read it all. Early in the morning and on mobile so i just skimmed. Btw, mine don't have white walls at all.

Like you say it doesent really matter, but big lugs on the outside is preferred since thats how GY wanted it. If it were me I would probably get them switched though just because I like things perfect.

GoldenSahara00 I guess you didn't read my post at all, since I already mentioned what it says on the sidewalls. It actually says this side in on the black side. Anways, water, etc is shed to the wrong side either way they are mounted, just one way or the other, Since the tread is angled. All it really comes down to is which lugs your riding on (a properly aligned vehicle won't matter) and which lugs you want to bit on the sides of rocks etc. 1 small lug with bigger gaps, or 1 medium lugs with smaller gaps.

Personally I don't think it matters much, the way you have them set up is probably the way I would prefer them as well, but I don't care enough to go switch them around.

Moabrubi The tires say on the sidewall "This side outboard". Check it out. If you run them backwards you have issues with rain/mud being shed properly IIRC.

To who asked if i liked them, I have put 0 miles on them, I don't have a driveshaft yet . They sure look cool and are way bigger then the BFG KM2 in the equivalent size though!

GoldenSahara00 I was always under the impression they could be mounted either way.

It does say on the sidewall of any MTR 35" or smaller to mount w/ the white letters out, i.e. how you have yours mounted. I have heard from a lot of guys they can be run either way. Mine are mounted opposite of yours, I never gave it any thought and assumed the guys at the shop would mount them correctly. I haven't really had any issues with them.

HK_Runner I went for this due to the sidewall. I actually love the BFG KMs offroad, though we don't get much/any mud here, thankfully. On the rocks, dirt, and sand, they were fantastic. The MTRs appear to be just as good but need to be aired down a bit more to be that good. The compound may be harder and the sidewall is definitely stiffer and needs a break-in. I will not run any 2-ply sidewall tire on the Jeep though I'd run the DuraTrac on my 4Runner.

Thanks. Does this recommendation come from Goodyear?

And how do you like these tires? In all my research they seem to be tops as an all around off-road tire,

Currently running BFG mud terrain tires and they lack in wet pavement, packed snow and are noisy. Leaning to this tire over Duratracs partly for the beefy sidewall.

ratchettt So orangecrush, do you take their response to mean that it does not matter if the large tread pattern is outside or inside? This doesn't seem right. Their response seems to address the rotation PATTERN without addressing the location of the tread pattern in relation to rim(whether to inside of rim or outside of rim).

I emailed Goodyear yesterday with this response yet.

I was getting mixed messages regarding these tire and rotating or not rotating, so I emailed Goodyear and this is their response........
