jklarry have a RC 2.5" lift, just put Rancho 9000s on (used 29 front/30 rear) took a trip up to the mountains (1700+ miles) the best this Jeep has ever ridden. used 4/3 settings because of the extra weight, use 3/2 around home. best money I have spent so far. went thru Marcus at RCO.

Rancho 9000 is a 9 way adjustable shock. More comfortable on the road. The Bilstein like my current Fox are valved specific to our JK and dampen better over the rough stuff. Overall ride is firmer on the road.
How do you like the Fox shocks? When you say firmer do you mean you feel everything in the road or that its less boaty? or both?

You can run 35's with just a 2.5 lift. There is no need to go to 3.5 unless you want to get an extra inch of lift.

Also a body lift does just that, lifts the body, the bumpers do not move - they are attached to the frame.

There is really no reason to go with a body lift on a JK like there is for TJ's and LJ's (they do it so that they can do a tummy tuck which the JK's do not have that need)

makotoshishio Guys thank you so much! My JK is 2 years old, I installed the lift kit 2 months after buying it.

It turns out I was told today to get Rancho's shocks as the price was good and the quality was good for my wheeling. And another person said "don't go with rancho, get bilstein".


The comparison between both here was good, I guess I decide based on price as that is the thing that kills most desires for our rides.


I'll be using the new shocks, 1" spacers, and will change the track bar for the teraflex adjustable track bar later on. Thank youo

Is there a recommended vendor/sponsor selling for $300 - $350 before the rebate? Cheapest I've seen is around $400 on Amazon.

kjeeper10 Why a body lift ? I would not do a body lift unless your trying to fit 40's
Spacers will work just as good. There really is no need for more then 2.5" unless sagging or running larger than a 35" tire.

Burger16b I say go with bilstien 5100s. That's what I got with the teraflex 2.5 4dr kit on a 2dr. Wanted the stiffer springs because of hevy bumpers will cause it to sag

LarsA I don't have much to add (sorry), but would also like to hear more about this. I also have the 2.5" TF coil lift with shock extensions, as I'm re-using my Rubi's stock shocks. The ride is great (for now), but my JKUR is only about 5 months old. How old (years/miles) are your shocks?

I'm running (almost) 35"s (315/70R17), and the 2.5" TF is sufficient. I have noticed, however, that my recent addition of steel bumpers (front & rear) w/tire carrier, plus a new winch w/steel cable, have cost me about 1/2" of height. At some point, I'll be upgrading my lift (or maybe just add spacers) and buy new shocks as well. For my money, the Rancho 9000XL offers everything I need. Rancho is (was?) offering a decent mail-in rebate when buying 4 of their shocks; check it out.

I have 33's on my JK with the 2.5" lift kit from teraflex (the one that comes with the shock extensions instead of new shocks)

I'm starting to feel my ride stiffer than usual, and I was told that I might already need new shocks.

I want to move up to 35" tires, 37 will be the best but I cannot afford al the changes I have to do to put those shoes on.

So what you guys recommend:

1) New lift, possible 3.5" including shocks and leave it ready for those 35"

2) Change shocks and add a 1" spring spacers

If you could recommend a shock with good quality but at affordable price it would be great.

How is my wheeling? I'll do moderate wheeling, nothing extreme. If there is something extreme it is just a part of a trail I'll have pass by and it will be very rare.
