I'm not going to get into a long discussion regarding which is better Syn or reg. For me a it's a personal preference, I use the 75W-140 because it's for extreme temps and use...if it helps reduce wear, great! If not...it can't hurt anything. And the little bit more it costs in the long run is really not that big of a deal.

chrisfp88 Ox said whatever the manufacturer and gear company recommends.

jagerhelix Check manufacture. Arb suggests anything that isn't for limited slip. Regular or synthetic. The rating should be based in your climate.

Sinister6 I use Valvoline SYNpower Full Synthetic 75W-140 in my TJ Rubicon and of course it comes with lockers. I don't think the locker has a preference... You could check with the manufacture of the Locker and see if they have a recommendation. Hope that helps...

dumb diff fluid question.

I have finished breaking in my gears with standard fluid, so I will be switching to a full synthetic. I believe 80-90 is what is recomended for jk's I know how far to fill, but I am wondering if there is a special type of fluid I need to use, like the ones designated with an "LS" for limited slip, since I am now using lockers. Thanks!
