Bottle jack stuck

I used the bottle jack that comes with the Jeep the other day and on the way down it got stuck. The weight of the Jeep was already off of it but it won't go all the way down so I can't store it back in its little cubby under the passenger seat. Has anyone ever encountered this and know what I can do to fix it? I'd hate to have to buy another but because it stores away so well its almost a must have item.
