Novak has a NP435 adapter to fit it to the NP231 T-case. Ford on the other hand has plenty of options.
Personally I would go with dodge but I'm a mopar guy and it has nothing to do with which one swaps in better

|overthehillsahara||Go with the MORE motor mounts but shop around, you can get them from vendors other them MORE for the same price and get free shipping. Make sure to mock the engine in using c-clamps to hold before you weld them. I using the MORE mounts on a 1990 5.7 TBI and ran into clearance issues with the bellhousing. I was able to remove the alignment pin an move them forward. It was pushing everything back to far causing the driveshaft to be even shorter. And now I wont have to pull the motor to change the clutch.|

I just did a 5.3L swap last year. LOVE IT!!! Worth every penny! Go to a junk yard and buy the complete motor, trams, and ECU out of wrecked truck. I spent $1500 and got everything, including the gas pedal and control box (drive by wire)
I used Novaks motor mounts. They tell you exactly where to weld them. Plus they are adjustable. I was able to reuse my stock drive shafts. I also used their adapter to convert my NP231 to the chevy transmission. They also reprogrammed my ECU

Yes, the GM LSx 5.3L is a great swap. Actually my buddies shop is doing one right now into a TJ.
It all depends on your budget. but no matter what, don't skimp on taking your time to measure things up, and on those motor mounts. The person who originally put a GM SBC v8 into my YJ really did a horrible job. In fact it is now better for me to leave the motor mount perches he put in than to cut out the frame and replace a section then add in the MORE mounts.

What does your budget look like? 5.3L LM7 Iron block is a great swap. If you are looking for something Aluminum block they make the same engine but its the L33. It is pretty much an LS1 minus the extra displacement

1988 YJ V8 swap
Hey everyone, I have a 1988 YJ with a straight 4. Im looking into swapping it out for a V8. Any suggestions for what engine i should go for? And how i should go about doing the swap? Thanks!
