toplessartist Are you sure it's an engine noise? If it's a pump (I'm thinking fuel-pickup) then the noise will always remain the same at any speed/gear... unless I'm mistaken (and if I am I'm sure someone here will advise me). I occasionally get an even-tempo-ticking when I get low on fuel, no matter the speed, rpm, etc. So before you get out in the middle of BFE it might be wise to check that.

Good luck.

04SilverTj I can add some more info to see if anyone has had similar problems. When i am going 20-40mph I can put it in neutral and the "putting" is still there. No matter how fast above 20 the putt-putt sound does not change speed between the putt's. I can sit in the driveway and rev and hear it faintly but not as defined as when i'm rolling on the road. If i push the brakes there is no changein sound. If I turn it's still there. I have not noticed a change in power but i just feel like it's running on 5 cylinders or something. The noise is a distingtive Tff-Tff-Tff-Tff if that helps anyone diagnose. Please somebody know what i'm talking about please it's annoying me not knowing what it is.

Engine Noise

I have a ticking noise or puttering noise that sounds like an exhaust leak but a few things you should know. I can only mainly hear it when i'm rolling over 20mph. I can let off the gas and still hear it. It sounds like an exhaust leak but since i can hear it when i let off the throttle and the noise doesn't change i have to rule that out. Anyone have any idea what it could possibly be? It's an automatic, 4.0 and i do know that i need to drop my t-case a little more cause i have driveshaft rattle when i start from a stop. Any help will be appreciated, thanks in advance, Kevin
