Ianscl7 Mud is not that great. Kinda sucks being in Florida now but I rather just hit trails with some buddies and have a good time.

Not go mudding where people get stuck and usually when mudding something is bound to break or mess up. And the clean up takes hours. Just not worth it in my opinion.

That's a losing battle. I went in mud once with just my windows unzipped. I still find mud in my air vents.. But it's the only thing I really have to play in so I have fun with it. But I wouldn't ever go topless.
05-10-2013 01:13 PM
Patrick H There was a time that I would search out mud to play in, long ago. Now I avoid it like the plague.
05-10-2013 01:10 PM
Jerry Bransford I wouldn't purposely wheel my Jeep in deep mud again even if its top & interior was hermetically sealed.
05-10-2013 12:23 PM
jeepinmike Not that I would recommend it regardless of your answer, but what kinda mud is it?? I have wheeled through just plain old wet dirt, thick swampy sticky ass mud, and stanky disgusting cow shit mud... none were a joy after the fact, but the later 2 of those I would want no where near the soft top, interior, or myself.

GoldenSahara00 Worst thing I ever did to my jeep. It will never, ever be clean on the inside again. I hate mud.

I plan on putting down plastic over the dash and vents when I take the doors off and go topless.

JeepandMud So far it's been just my safari top and my full steel doors. Needless to say, last time I went through a mud puddle I didn't have door surrounds. Ended up with mud near the drivers side vent and some over the dash, but nothing too serious. Next year it's gonna be doors off and possibly safari off. Still debating though.

BPerez23 I just go windows down and deal with the consequences
05-09-2013 11:17 PM
BPerez23 It's up to you the top is a bitch to clean so is the interior, pick you poison
05-09-2013 11:04 PM
oneeyebear I prefer the top off, and doors off. It's not too bad, if you try not to throw mud everywhere you can do it successfully. I like to take the mud pits slow, so not very much mud gets into the jeep anyway.

Sometimes it is no top. But I have the safari top on sometimes now

Wordgie Every time I've done it, I say I'll never do it again.

X infinity on removing the carpet.

Your roll bar pads will never be the same again, you'll find mud from that day to eternity in places you swore you've already cleaned (I found a golf ball size clump in my AC vents after one particular romp in the mud), then there's the clothes you're wearing at the time. Don't wear anything you're emotionally attached to.

But it is fun as hell.

Willybusmc This is me and my crew after getting stuck with no top or doors and spinnin the tires way too damn much trying to get out. Bu you don't get nearly this muddy when you don't get stuck

Johnboy11 Here ya go. it's not me but a cool picture

Willybusmc In my yj I do this pretty often. My interior is bed lined and I have water resistant seats. I even spray my dash off straight with a hose. No issues so far. If you use a little discretion and don't get stuck you'll stay relatively dry and clean. Obviously wider tires fling it more, but for the most part the mud and water goes out and up rather than up and in.

kshaws21 Yep, tires covered by flares makes mud so much more tolerable. Notice how little of the mud escaped from under the flares.

Exactly..if your tires are covered by your flares then you shouldn have a problem. Myself i have tsl swampers and cut flares and the inside of my jeep looks like the swamp when i have no top..it takes all day just to clean the mud out of it. I hate mud and i avoid it if i can..its a pain to clean, ruin and breaks stuff, and did i mention its a pain to clean!

bmlbrewer No top, no doors, no windshield, goggles, and a smile. Got some really funny looks heading back into town that day.

Obviously got alot more mud but it was a one time experience. Too much cleanup but you can just go through the car wash topless and doorless like me lol

Attachment 246853
You just have to pull dash apart to clean panels

Hoagie. Yep

99georgiatj You can't power wash the dash. I went through a small creek on my land a while back ( after some liquid encouragement) and had the windows down and I still can't get the door panels clean. I don't care for mud had enough of that before my 4-wheeler got stolen.
