corvallisbattery Yep.... rock stuck in the heat shield. Drove 15 miles with it like that... no damage. All is well.

corvallisbattery Haha just my luck.. the girl and I go out to get this thing a little dirty and we find an awesome spot. Nice ruts and down logs, puddles and steep banks to climb up..

I go through ONE decent mud track.. like 5 inches deep mud, 8 inches of water and a bit of an uphill finish (needed 4wd).. and came out with a rock or something stuck in a heat shield of the front driver brake. Sounds sooo awful. Pressure washed the underside and washed her twice. Will pull the wheel tomorrow am.

On a related note.. I thought maybe it was the transfer case so I tried go between 2H and 4H at a stop and couldn't get into 4H. Drove forward a bit.. stopped.. no dice again.. drove forward a bit more.. stopped, went right it. Gone in every time since. Its my understanding that I should try to have a little momentum when engaging 4H+L and not at a dead stop.. correct?

The transfer case is not the cause of the noise. Pushing the car in neutral with the engine off the sound is coming from brake.

But seriously.. this thing was so impressive. As my heart rate went up and my hands got sweaty... the rubi just laughed and asked for a real challenge.

TurboGoKart Welcome! I just picked up a Rubicon too! It's an 05, but still a Rubi!

I too came from the other side, although I still have my LS1 swapped Nissan 240.

New Rubicon...New lifestyle

Hey everyone! Just wanted to drop a line and introduce myself. I come from the world of turbocharged Subaru's and evos. I'm done with that. Time for a new style. A rig to throw my dog in and take off....not worrying about driveway height, mud in the back.. or throwing a rod! So I decided a wrangler was for me.

I went and picked up a 2013 JK Rubicon in bright white... with essentially everything but Nav. Out the door price $30,175. I beat em up pretty good but i also promised to let em do the 30k + 60k services, and promised to start buying more parts through them... as they are in the town over from my shop.

Anyways.. I'm super pumped to go wheel and get to know this thing. I don't wanna mod it too much, the subarus and evos tired me of "the bug"...Maybe some bumpers and bed liner the interior floors.... armor.. winch.. uh oh.. here I go again....

So... who's near Albany OR and wants to show me how to get my moneys worth out of this thing!?
