Looked at some 2013's today. Found a package that we kind of liked.
It was an automatic, AC, connectivity group. No power locks or windows. For the 2dr we liked it, the 4dr it was almost impossible to unlock the back doors without the power.
Wheels and tires are base model, but since that is often an upgrade, I would drive it until the tires wore out and then upgrade to what I may want.
$24,480. Seems a decent price in my area.

|easyd||I looked at a lot of jeeps before I got my 12 Sport new. Most of the used jeeps (2006-2011) were 18-25 thousand. With about 5000 more I got a new JK with a full warranty. I have 18000 miles with no problems at all.|

Well, reading a lot more about them, Im not feeling very confident about the many 2012's I have seen.
I think it is a new 2013 or a used 2001-06 TJ. That I6 seems to be an old, but very sturdy engine.
A new car is always nice, but I don't mind older if they are dependable. Heck my fun car presently is a 1988 Mustang, the Jeep will probably be quieter than that to drive. smile.

Test drive one of each with the different engines and see if you notice any difference in performance. The 3.8L has 202 hp; the 3.6L has 285 hp.

|Sebastian F7||If you are worried about the 3.6 definitely dont get the 3.8 its good for a boat anchor. Underpowered pile of scrap metal if ya ask me. There is a reason it only lasted a few years.|

New used, 3.6 or 3.8?
Been reading these forums for a couple weeks now, and have been looking at Wranglers.
We went to look at new sport models and we liked them and were rather set on just going that way. In the course of looking around, we saw several Rubicons that were Certified used cars. Price points were about the same for the Rubicons, compared to the sport. After reading about the head problems for the new engine, I have been rather nervous about a Jeep with these engines and only limited warranty. I know things can get blown out of proportion on the internet, but it does make one nervous, so I have the following questions.
Are these 2011-2012 Wranglers with the new engine a risk with limited warranty?
If Im going used, am I better off just getting the 3.8 in an older model?
Would you take a used Rubicon with no or less warranty time over a new sport model?
For reference, I will be off road, but nothing extreme, as Im too cheap to risk banging up a new rig.
Thanks for any insight. I will continue reading and searching.
