Not at all, just invest in a book for your jeep (so you know the torque reqs) and a good torque wrench.

|Outlaw||After a bit of research, looks like I can get the parts for around $82.00, the tune up kit from Quadratec is $99 and the pcv valve is $17, pack on shipping and its in the $120's. I'm thinking that I will tackle this myself. My jeep has 60,000 on it, kind of high for its age but we do a lot of driving. Is the throttle body hard to pull and clean on my own??|

Definitely. Buy a new set of sparks and wires from NAPA or wherever and then take the parts and the jeep to an independent shop. Labor should be 1-2 hours at most. You can see what it would cost to have the throttle body cleaned, but I wouldn't even bother at this point (I'm assuming you don't have too many miles, e.g., less than 50k).
I can't see this costing much more than $200.

I'd suspect they're overcharging on the parts (they're a dealer) and you might want to look at the labor - probably padding that a bit too. This is definitely a comfort issue - if you're comfortable doing it yourself, $575 buys a lot of your own time for most folks.
At a minimum, an independent shop can probably beat the dealer's quote - call it a middle ground - pay less than a dealer would charge, don't worry about doing it yourself.

So, just got off of the phone with the Jeep service dept. He told me that it would cost $575.00 for a "full tune" on my 2010 Jeep Wrangler. That seems a bit steep from my point of view. They told me there is high resistance in one of the plug wires and a bad plug on cyclinder #4 which is causing the check engine light to illuminate and the error code P0304, which is "misfire cylinder #4". Also there is carbon build up on the throttle body which needs cleaned.
Due to the price I'm toying with the idea of doing the "full tune" myself which amounts to plugs, wires, pcv valve and a new air filter. I'm no mechanic but I have some know how and have completed similar tune ups on older vehicles. My question would be....just how hard is this and due to the fact this is a newer vehicle will I be getting in over my head? I really dont want to cause myself further heartache but I have a tough time swallowing $575 for this. Any suggestions or advice?
