axplayer I'd figure more for install. Amp/processor install for me was $400-ish at Car Toys. Did the speakers myself. Also, buying your own amp install kits will save tons over what the install place will want to charge you.

wow - that JBL MS8 is really wicked. and very pricey.

I was hoping to stay around $1k installed - -

JBL P660c front speakers - $150
JBL P662s soundbar speakers- $85
Audiocontrol LC6i line out converter- $110
Alpine MRX-V70 5 channel amp - $265
ancillaries (wires, cables,etc) - $100
total $710 (ebay prices though for the equipment)

I'm thinking maybe $300-$400 for labor?

Jma20a a good headunit is the first thing you need to build a quality system. to properly run an amp(s) you need a way to better control the sound output. going from a 3 band eq to a 7-9 band eq can really bring life into a system.

Upgrading everything except the headunit question

I have a 2012 JKU sahara - has the basic headunit (I think its the 130n-it's whatever comes stock on a Sahara, no GPS unit or uconnect when I ordered it - wanted to keep price low as possible).

I am thinking of getting a line output converter like audiocontrol LC6i or even Kicker makes one now so I can keep the stock headunit and then run to an Alpine MRX V70 amp and component speakers up front and coax's in the soundbar. I have an elemental designs 8" sub that I would use.

For the front speakers, components by JBL - P660c and soundbar P662s.

Wondering if anyone had any experience with doing similar setup? - retain stock HU and then upgrade everything else.

Is it worth it? I'm looking for a little more volume when top is off. Im not into rap or hip hop so dont care for booming bass. I do listen to slipknot, some ska which is midbass heavy, etc.
