It looks like the vanco brake system uses the unit bearing bolts along with the factory brake mounting holes.

BLK00TJ I looked into the grinding bit. It seems to be required for TJ/LJs in order to make room for the boot. I don't consider it major though since you only need to notch out about 1/16" of the bolt holes on the knuckles and they provide a template to make sure you grinded enough.

I was about to order the ten factories but then I got to thinking that I'd have been in the same situation if I already had them. My u-joint failed while trying to get up on a rock at near-full lock causing the ears to "self clearance" themselves. I still hear the loud bang in my nightmares. When I do step up to 35" tires, that issue could be more of a problem.

All in all we had a bad weekend. It all started with my friends Scrambler breaking a Ford 9"rear axle. About five minutes later he broke the other side since it was a full spool. Then trying to get off the trail he broke one side on the front with a full spool. He was pulled the rest of the way out with Next up was me shattering my axle. One of the guys that helped me get off the trail laughed until he broke the same way later in the day. To round out the weekend, the friend I followed home that was towing his friends CJ broke a trailer axle 30 minutes from home.

Pirateover50 Just recieved my RCV's. Got tired of broken u-joints and ears... Not sure of I can say this but best price I found was from SBC Offroad Engineering...

On second thought, I think I'd rather go with RCVs after reading more on them. My plan now is to replace a free stocker and hopefully get it to last the rest of this season and get RCVs with a rebuild kit in case one side does happen to break on the trail. If I were to get decent chromolys and super joints, I'm almost to that price range anyway.

Are their any bad sides to RCVs?

I think that is what I as leaning towards. I think I'll get the free stock as a replacement for now and get the chromolys when I can afford them easier in a few months.

I need new front axle shafts

I spit the front passenger u-joint and ripped up the ears of the axle so I need a new shaft. I have a buddy that's going to give me a stock replacement but I'm interested in upgrading to chromolys. I heard Superior has gone under so what other good brands are out there? Ten factory? Nitro? Alloy USA? Any better than the other? I am interested in a "Made in the USA" tag too.

Another thing I'm considering is replacing the stocker and upgrade to 30 spline when I eventually do the ARB. Any sense to this?
