|jpittman||This some times help minimize the clunk. When you park, put it into neutral, then set the emergency brake, and then shift into park.|

Thanks for your input. It almost feels like the stall is set to high on the tranny/torque converter. The same would happen if the rpms were too high when you threw her down through reverse. Im wondering if there are some low fluids?

the hard shift from park to gear is normal, it makes it feel worse with the raising of the rear end when you put it in drive. mine does it, it is an 02 4.0, auto, sport.
the short wheelbase and the geometry of the suspension does not help out too much either.

Newb, just picked up an '01 sport auto, is slamming into drive normal?
Just picked up an '01 Sport auto/3 speed with 90,000 miles to tow around a dirtbike trailer and have some fun in lovely Colorado. I've searched around and have had different answers but whats with this thing slamming into reverse and drive? If i go from park to reverse it makes a clunk and a jerk. I've noticed the Jeep sports do it aswell. Can I fix this? Tourque converter problems?
