aelwero Try here for lift laws by state

there's an inspection station here in el paso that will not pass my DJ no matter what (probably because it's right hand drive and they just don't know the law, so they make up BS). They say the running lights and turn signal need to both blink, so I rewired them right in front of the guy, and then he said they need to alternate, one blinks, then the other... I asked him to show me THAT law in writing, and he said he "doesn't have to share that information"...

There's one that says my gas cap fails the pressure test, and do I want one for $100... (forgot a couple months ago, went to the same shop, they said the same thing... funny how the shop a block down didn't mention it either time...)

There's one that passed an old firebird I had by setting the test probe on the ground next to the car instead of in the tailpipe, basically testing the air.

luckily, there's always another shop to try

Reaper2332 I'm not sure about maryland but va has its lift rule by the weight of the vehicle. For example my 2011 4 door can have the front bumper at a maximum of 29" off the ground, but around here its like russian roulette with inspections. Good luck and I hope you get it all figured out!

Mcatt If you have the laws/rules in front of you and you've fixed what you found to be wrong and feel you are complying with whats required. Then go to a different shop and have it rechecked. Who says the first guy knows what he's talking about??

Need to pass inspection

What's up everyone! I just bought my first car. A 2001 60th Anniversary Edition Wrangler. The jeep came with a ton of mods and alot of after market parts on it. It has a 4 inch skyjacker suspension lift and a 1 inch body lift, sitting on 35's. I went and had it inspected at the shop down the street from me last week and it failed. The guy came back and told me 1. The tires are "too big" 2. It needs a tail pipe and 3. The day lighters were sitting too high. I'm not worried about the pipe or the lights because thoes are easy fixes. I called another jeep specially shop about the wheels. They said they're fine as long as they're covered by the fenders and if so they will pass it. Then the dude goes on to tell me I can't have more then 1 lift on it and one would need to come off in order to pass! Im finding some stuff on here that says that is not correct and you are aloud to have the lifts. Someone point me in the right direction with what to do, I want to get this thing on the road!
