Thanks!
From the link, it stated it was from a 2010 Van and High speed. It would work, but it's the older version, so the splash screen will stay Chrysler. It can NOT be updated to where newer models are at now. Look for a 2011+.

2012 + will need a lock code, so make sure you can get that.

Rammer500 The 2011 model year 506, from what I can tell is the same as the newer 509's other than the anti-theft and has green back lighting rather than blue. Some 509's are still green but, most are blue. The 2010 and back will not switch the splash screen (Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler)as determined by the VIN number. 2012's+ (all 509's) will need the lock code from the seller to use. Look at the label on the unit for the build date.

movi3king I thank you both.
Can you just break down how to read the break down of the numbers to read the build?

Also what are the key differences between what a 506 and 509 will do?

Thank you.

Rammer500 This is the part number I put in my 2014. P05064879AH
It's a 2011 model year RBZ. Made in April 2011.
The back lights are green, has sirius, does not have antitheft so no need for a lock code, updates to Jeep slash screen when installed, and can be updated to 50.xx like the P0509 models .

wrix You want High speed with the mount brackets on the sides not the top. Green backlighting is harder to find as they were more popular in older Caravans and Ram trucks (blue) and only in a few jeeps (Green). Forget the number sequence but i think the 506 are old and the 509 are new. I got a blue light up version as they are easier to find and it doesn't bother me at all. Older versions don't have Autotheft but that's up to you if it matters. It will say on the screen whether it supports Sirius or Autotheft. Newer models auto update to say Jeep on splash screen. Older models require a flash to update from what ever vehicle they were pulled from. And yes, on all versions, the screen darkens when park or head lights are on.

movi3king Hey guys so i have been reading up and think i may be ready to do the uconnect swap in my 2 day old 2015 Freedom Edition (equipped with uconnect).

If someone can please just run by my what to look for when purchasing a mygig 430 unit i would appreciate it.
I know some year models are better then others but im a little confused as to which ones to look for and how to know what im looking for... I would like one that can be updated etc and nav is not needed.

Just another question: I do a lot of night driving and i am wondering if the display on the 430 units dims out at night.

All help is appreciated.

I mounted it in the notch where the receiver hitch would reside (if I had a receiver hitch). Not sure if this is smart, though. Could be a bit too exposed. I don't off-road, so might be okay for me.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I bought a 2009 model 430 RBZ and have an appointment with the dealer Tuesday morning to have the system flashed for backup camera. I think I may sell this one and buy a newer model 430 so I can get the "Jeep" start-up screen and update to the newer graphics. I really didn't want to have to go back to the dealer a second time.

My understanding is that the vehicle is what is flashed, thus, swapping the head unit shouldn't matter once the vehicle is told that there is a camera in the system.

Ueah. Me 2. The black gold better imo. The blue was too distracting at night.

My impressions of the 430

Well after doing research and reading this extensive thread I felt comfortable enough to get a 430 RBZ. I had a 130U and used a separate GPS unit. It worked fine but I liked the touchscreen and the capabilities of the 430. I was not going to shell out 600-1000 just to get nav so I decided on the RBZ.

Today I picked up a 2011 unit with green backlit dials and blue screen. It was a 506 model so no code needed. Got a good deal from 'Ol Sarge' on this forum and picked it up today.

It was truly plug and play. Installed in about 20 minutes. Would of been 10 but those clips and connectors are harder to figure out than a rubics cube. I powered it up and the backsplash switched from Dodge to Jeep. The unit paired up with immediately with my I phone 5.

I checked the system information and found it was running the 20XXX software. After some help I was able to track down the 33 and 50 updates. Install went smooth except that after each update the security screen came on. I cycled the ignition off and back on and that went away. Turned the radio on and all worked well.

I gotta say this is the best sub $300 mods I have made. Totally changes the interior and looks 100 times better than the 130. And now the pics.....

Before Updates, Screen Blue

After, Screen black and yellow

Dsm1849 I have a green backlit RBZ that has the Jeep logo on the screen for sale. I got it from another member but don't need it anymore. Non-Nav.

Rammer500 I just installed a June 2011 unit in my 14. No anti theft, green backlit lights and is now updated to the 50.xxx. Thanks everyone!!

Nutro Well, I bought a High speed unit with the Antitheft. The seller said he thought it was brand new and still has the plastic over the screen. I might not need the 4 digit code or he sent me a website that only charges $10 for unlock codes.

Gumbys69 Well I just swapped mine out, took a total of 7 minutes and then 5 minutes on the phone to swap over my Sirius subscription. Works and looks great, the Ram logo swapped over for the Jeep logo right away. Paid $195 canadian for it from a local Autowrecker, well worth it!

The antitheft model is a later build than the non so it makes since to get one. The one I got was a late 2012 build. Went right in, switched from chrysler to jeep on the display as soon as it was turned on and had no issues updating to the current firmware.
You should not have to pay for a antitheft code. Most of the units I have seen on ebay, and the one I bought, the seller had the code and emailed to me.
Can't remember for sure at the moment what color the buttons are, but I think they are green,
10-15-2014 10:09 PM
Nutro How do you decipher date codes? Example: 1831 or 1520

And how do I guarantee that I am getting green backlighting?
10-15-2014 09:14 PM
Gumbys69 I ordered one to but the guy couldn't confirm if it was a high speed or low speed bus. If it's low speed I can get my $$ back but how do I know? Will it hurt anything if I plug it in and it's a low speed?
