Rusty's springs are pretty stiff, I'd get four of these with bushings and call it good Rubicon Express RE1430 - Rubicon Express 2.5" Standard Leaf Spring for 87-95 Jeep® Wrangler YJ - Quadratec You can also make your own shackles out of 3/8" steel plating and get another 1" out of that by cutting them and making it 6" from center hole to center hole

SirBullet I'm in the same boat... i'm gonna fab my own 2" body lift (I just like building anything i can, and buying as little as possible). after that i'm prolly gonna get new springs and go soa.

Will you have to do any more work other than replacing the springs? I was looking at these springs from Rustys Off Road. What do you think?

Matthew94yj I'm looking at 33 inch tires. The original springs are shot, they aren't reversed yet however they have over 200k on them and look pretty bad. I'm up for cutting the finders if need how ever I really need more clearance. At this point I thing a Subaru has more clearance. I'm not a welder and I don't want to mess up the entire jeep. Thanks for your help!

95YamJam What size tires are you wanting to run? Thats the first question.

Spring over is just what it sounds like. You move the springs on top of the axle vs. under like it is stock.

You can do it cheapish, there is a sticky at the top for it. But to do it right you might spend as much as any lift. Advantages are that it will flex better than SUA, better ride quality too. You can use your stock springs if they are not reverse arched.

Disadvantages. Might have other driveline issues, axle wrap(which can be fixed but more work), need to be able to weld spring perches, shock mounts, etc. Need to extend brake lines. Lots of little things.

Honestly if it's mostly a trail rig. Put on 33's, cut the fenders til they don't hit... Cheapest!

92wranglerbob I have a 92 YJ and I find myself in a similar situation. I'm looking to do a 2.5-3" lift by replacing the leaf springs. I will be interested to see what advice is provided. I too will be attempting this myself. Good luck!

what’s your thoughts on lift kits?

I’m looking at lifting my 94 wrangler. I’m thinking about a 4inch suspension lift and possibly a 2 inch body lift. I’m on a tight budget and I’m going to be doing the installation. My jeep is going to be used sickly for trails and off road use and light road travel to and from the trail. Thanks! Also what’s the difference between spring over and slandered suspension lifts?
