|Abnormal-JK||Zippo lighter fluid works better than Goo Gone, and leaves no residue.|

|chisox711||Blow dryer and dental floss. Super easy to take off. goo gone didnt take the residue off mine very well. Ended up benefiting me because it gave me a reference for where to put the new logo. Looks much better.|

Maybe I should put the new one on like this...

Blue painters tape is your friend.
Mask off the outline of the letters before you peel the old one off. New one goes back into the template you created.

I have almost purchased the new badge but concerned that I won't get it lined up as perfect as it is now (I have severe OCD). Because of this I am thinking of going the plasti-dip route...

Would it be better to do it now, and drive it with no badge for a while, then put it on when it comes in? Or would it be better to take it off, clean it, then add new one?
And also, what is a trick to get it right where it was?

WD 40 uses # 666 adhesive remover. Plus u can hit several other things on your wagon w/ it.
So save ur $$ on the Goo Off.

|PhotoWrangler||I've heard that dental floss works too.|

Heat gun, fishing line, micrfiber towel+adhesive remover for cleanup.
+1 on just buying a new emblem. It's worth it to avoid the time and stress of doing your own work.

So, just saying... it's worth a try.
PS And it is slightly original, haha.

When I did mine, I found that WD40 did the best job of getting the leftover adhesive off, much better than Goo Gone.
That glue is nasty stuff....

|TrueBlueJK||Good thing about plastidip is you can peel it off when you get sick of it.|

|Justin_Griffith||I would rather purchase a new one than paint the old one.|
|05-17-2013 01:07 PM|
I simply don't want mine to look like anyone else.
I figure being an original is worth more than a measly $2 savings.

You really can't remove the old one to paint, and put back on without adding new foam sticky back, and taping the thing off would be a job in itself.

And to the OP...Why'd you order a whole new emblem when you could have just painted/dipped the one you have now black (or any other color you wanted)?

|TrueBlueJK||Heat gun and fishing line.|

How to debadge?
I ordered the black "Jeep" emblem off amazon yesterday.
How do I remove the current chrome one now?
I heard all I have to do is get a hair drier, fishing line, and Goo-Off.
Is it that easy?
