1jeeplvr Well I got my answer.I put the Jeep on jack stands & put it in 4wd.Had the wife get in it and get it to 70mph.My two front wheels were vibrating like crazy.I took them to work & dismounted & spun the rims alone & I can see the wobble.So Im swapping the spare & getting a new steel wheel.When I need tires Ill get tires & wheels.Thanks everyone.

1jeeplvr So I did a road force balance on 2 of my tires/rims.One tire showed 32lbs of road force,totally acceptable.The other one that I suspected to be the problem was at 56lbs,no good. So the machine shows where the tire needs to be spun un the rim.I did that & it got worse,now 60lbs.I think Ill use that one for the spare.

flflash If you can visibly see a tire/wheel woobling on the balancer and your positive it's mounted correctly your next step is to dismount the woobling ones and measure your rim run out if it's out of spec your wasting time trying to balance the tire/wheel assembly if the weheels not out of spec you have a seperated/shifted tire.

Well I guess R/F bal is my next step.Im thinking if it is a bent rim or a tire that got damaged I can swap it with the spare.Thanks for the info though.Now if it throws the balancer into a fit Ill know why.

If there is the slightest dent in a steel wheel, the road force measuring will go crazy on a balancer.

1jeeplvr My tires are 33x12.5x15. Im sure the balancer is accurate since I use it almost every day & havent had any issues.Maybe Ill try to road force bal them or swap each wheel/tire with the spare & drive it to see what tire/wheel it is.

Maro35089 From what I hear as long as the alum wheels are forged and are made of good quality material they are just as strong as steel and way lighter

Angus Brown The standard practice for a tire tech when they encounter a balance that is calling for that much weight to balance is to break the bead and rotate the tire on the wheel 180 degrees, re-seat the bead, and throw it back on the balancer. Have them do that, see if it calls for less weight. Not sure on what size tires you are running, but you may have problems balancing them if they are 33" or larger, not to mention if they are missing chunks of tread from wheeling.

Rude Dog You say wheels, guessing you mean tires & wheels. Wheels are typically pretty uniform, more so than tires. What makes you think the tires aren't the problem? The weights you show are pretty high. What size tires & wheels. None of my tires took that much lead. Are you sure the balancer is accurate?

UnlimitedLJ04 aluminum will be significantly lighter, and therefore easier to balance. strength isn't really an issue.

Ive got this vib that is terrible that starts at about 63 goes away about 74.I have dynamic & static balanced my wheels.I can see a couple wheels wobble on the balancer.
Heres what one took for weight,yikes



I wheel my Jeep pretty hard so Im wondering if a aluminum wheel would be stronger.I dont want to have to keep replacing wheels.Thanks
