|HK_Runner||Job markets is slowly improving (really slowly) but glad some more opportunities are coming to this area. If I stay at my current job till Sep, I get a retention bonus so I will. Problem is that it is incredibly stressful nowadays, and each day can be gut-wrenching. I have another potential job lined up in Vancouver (though they will let me work from Denver, at least for a year). I can hardly wait till Sep, take a month off to wheel and bike and camp, and then back to work. I may look at Schwab too...heard they are good to work for.|

|eboven||Well, I'm not sure what you guys are looking for, but we are hiring at my company, AV-Tech. We do all the aftermarket equipment on emergency vehicles - all the lighting, sirens, bumpers, and more on mostly police vehicles, though we do deal with firetrucks and ambulances as well. We need an experienced tech who knows the basics of turning a wrench and DC electronics; you would need your own tools. We just lost a few other techs so we're hiring for full time, pay depends on experience. Good benefits, paid time off, ect. It really is a great place to work; there are three of us who drive Wranglers and one who has a Cherokee, so it's like a Jeeper workplace!|

I'm looking to get away from working in the desert and was wondering if anyone has some good leads on jobs in telecom in the Springs area. More specifically the design, installation and maintenance of the cabling and infrastructure and project management.
Any help or leads will be appreciated.

|chrisfp88||Thanks to everyone for posting stuff. We had an employee of ours fall seriously ill in February. Since then I have largely been working 7 days a week. I made a commitment to stay at my current job until September. I wilk be looking for opportunities over the summer so if anyone is aware of potential fall openings in their business or one they know please let me know. I can work flex and swing shifts. I really just need one day off a week. I make about 36k pre tax right now and can't really go too much lower than that.|

New year, fresh budget, lots of hiring taking place...
Careers at Xcel Energy
On page 2, there's a Plant Specialist B opening in Boulder. There'll be competition, but if you've got decent skills and can pass the Edison Electrical Institute test (EEI), you've got a chance at it. Even entry level pays pretty decent and if you elect them, you have benefits on day one. Don't wait though, they just hired 20 people. Those postings won't be up forever...

|Sinister6||El Paso County Sheriff's department is hiring like crazy right now here in Colorado Springs. I just don't have the patience to deal with all the stupid people... Hope that helps!|

Another bump from someone wanting to move to the Denver area.
I am a licensed CPA in Washington State. Almost all of my experience has been as a controller in the small company size of under 50 million with up to 150 employees. Mostly manufacturing light assembly with some job-cost experience in the control panel industry. Not a tax/audit CPA however I have been through many of each as the controller being taxed/audited.
Rather than expecting someone to find me a job, the name of any recruiter you use for accounting jobs would be great. I can reach out to them and get them a resume but knowing which agencies to start with would be helpful.

Degree will get you the interview
Experience will get you the job
But without the degree you likely won't get calls for higher-end I.T. jobs down the line. For example my bachelor is in Business Management and anything computer related is on the job experience.
|12-26-2012 04:23 PM|
|ClayL||I'm not massively computer savvy but I know more than most and always willing to learn, maybe il look into it since I was looking at getting back into school for computers|
|12-26-2012 04:10 PM|
|1quick1||If you guys can break into I.T. I just moved here 11 months ago but I've been able to pick and chose through many opportunities. The more advanced the better the pay obviously but there definitely seems to be plenty of tier 1 or 2 I.T. jobs if you have a couple years experience.|

If anyone can operate heavy equipment, you might give Rocky Mountain Excavating a call. We have jobs at Ft. Carson, Buckley AFB, Air Force Academy, and a few others I'm not sure of. Most of our jobs are Davis Bacon jobs as well. 303-841-0292.
I can't guarantee anything but it's worth a call.
We also have a concrete division.
