NonRubicon Here is a great website that covers the factory 4.2L setup:

Adventures Under the Hood

I highly recommend you read all of the website as it explains what does what, and how to test and adjust the components. It also has info on the sol-vac solenoid and how to test/adjust it.

Carb idle screws messed up and what does sole-vac actually DO?

Hey Guys........

Great to be here and this is my first post. I am in Jamaica (no dealer and no parts) with a 1988 Jeep Sahara. The idle screws have been messed with as has the sole-vac adjusting screw (the one with the spring). How best to put these back? Also...what does the sole-vac actually DO? I think I read that it bumps up the idle a bit when you start the A/C but I am not sure. Does it do anthing else? Is it even needed?

Thanks in advance......
