thaduke2003 They can support the weight just fine- it's tire width that becomes an issue. Having the lugs hold the spare on allows for plenty of strength. You simply can't fit wider tires on there without spacers, or an issue - Mark W.

lee indy i think the biggest problem with a big tire on the stock carrier will end up being weight.

thaduke2003 I have 285/70/17's on OEM Rubi wheels on the stock carrier- it touches the CHMSL bracket, and the rubber bumpers, but no problems with it. A spacer is in the future, however, as I'm anal when it comes to such things Mark W.

lee indy thats why i threw out spacer. and with the proper backspacing its prolly gonna be close. factory rim and 35s probably not

CruserBruiser yeah lee i have seen those pics too but when i get to lookin at my new jeep i am thinking theres no way that the 35s i want are gonna fit on it.

lee indy ive seen pictures on the jk forum of 35s on the factory ish carrier. i never asked it might use a spacer

bubba2u from what i have read i think a 32" by 10.5" will work. not sure so lets wait for the experts.

How big of a wheel and tire combo can i fit on the stock spare tire carrier???
