dan high Ok cool the guy at the off road shop looked at that tag on the rear end an said it did need different rear or axles using the correct lingo
05-24-2013 09:30 PM
Nanook Dan, also research ford 8.8 swap. A little more money but may be worth it for you.
05-24-2013 08:24 PM
dan high Hey thanks for the good info ... I don't live on the net so I have be slow hitn u back
05-22-2013 05:54 PM
DILLIGAF If there isnt a tag on the rear differental it still should have numbers on the inside, I also agreed with the axle swap, to regear will cost around $250. with gaskets gears and fluids, not to mention it is still a weak link in the drive train.

ChicoJeepy I can say one thing, if I need help (Mainly because I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to fixing a Jeep problem) I'll surely ask someone that knows what he is doing like Tiger Blood and if there is anyway I can return the favor by all means tell me, lol.

Keep it up man. You should write a book about Fixing Jeeps.

BCDonny some times I think some of the people on here should not own their old jeeps. Anything this old will need some work or help, if you can't do most of the work yourself it will cost you alot more than it is worth and you will never get your money out of it. It is fine if you want to learn but don't be lazy do alot of seaching, google, read other forums etc. Then when you have your basic knowledge ask your questions. Not trying to piss anyone off just my two cents

wrangleryj90 i love tigerblood without him I wouldn't have checked my transfercase and known that it was my problem he told me to check the level of fluid and i would all the problems thank you again sir you are the bestest lol

tigerblood This guy reminds me of the WF user "sativa", lmao, who else remembers him? he embarrassed himself so bad with his immaturity (much like dan high) he left with his tail between his legs and never came back. Maybe dan should learn from him.

roadyrob I think dan's high, comes here asking basic questions a few minutes of research would have answered then has a fit when someone tries to help him.
05-22-2013 12:13 PM
ChicoJeepy Ok. So what is the conversation here? About a loss of 5th gear because of the upgraded 33's?
05-22-2013 11:25 AM

If you find an axle set from a 4 banger YJ you will be geared perfect for your motor and they bolt in as they are the same axles.

Also 94 and 95 axles have stronger joints

You'll want to get front and rear axles together.

tigerblood around $1k for gears and installation, look for a set of 2.5L yj axles to swap, $150-$350
05-21-2013 09:00 PM
dan high Sorry I don't know I feel like its stock tho ... If that means anything ...would u have a idea of cost ? To put lower gears in it ?
05-21-2013 08:54 PM
wrangleryj90 What gears in it now? If you don't know how to regear it might be cheaper to find axles with 4.10's
