NFRs2000NYC My Jeep INSTANTLY got smoother and quieter when I switched to Mobil1. Just keep all your records of oil changes, and your warranty will be unaffected. Once you change over to synthetic, run it for AT LEAST 8000 miles between oil changes. Anything sooner and you're just burning money.

I have the free lifetime powertrain warranty on my '07 Sebring and as long as I keep the receipts for scheduled maintenance work it doesn't matter if I do the work or someone else.

It passed its 60-month free inspection last September. I did many of the maintenance items myself. The dealer did every other oil change at 6,000 miles because I also have free lifetime oil changes from them.

PSU13Sahara Thanks everyone! I'll get it in for service asap.

Rooster76 @3000k I think it's a good idea to get an oil change. Being that it is a new engine it would be good to get any extra metal filings that have collected during the break in.

The manual says 8,000 or 6 months. Which ever one comes first.

SIDE NOTE: Putting the user manual PDF on your smart phone makes finding out stuff like that quick. It's nice especially at the auto stores to get products with the right specifications.

Swazi If you bought the Chrysler max care lifetime warranty, there is not a requirement to bring the car in for checkups.

I called the warranty dept and asked this specifically after i biught my max care.

Apparently if you had one of the older "free lifetime warranty" cars, they had requirements to be brought to the dealer every so many miles.

scipio337 Check your warranty paperwork. Mine on a Jeep Patriot had a requirement of Chrysler inspecting it on every 5th year anniversary, +/-30 days of my purchase date. I believe this was the case with the old lifetime powertrain warranty, as well.

Not sure on the oil, I'm still in "Production Scheduled".

Garyk As far as I know, the jeeps come with dino oil. As far as the warranty you will have to follow the scheduled maintenance in the owners manual.
I just take ours to the local Jeep dealer, they do the oil change and fluids and hand wash for $25, not worth me doing it at that price.
If you do your own service, keeps records and receipts...

Oil Change/ Life Time Warranty Question

Hello Hello!

First time poster here and a first time Jeep owner as well. A few years ago our family did the "Drive a Wrangler on the beach in the Outer Banks Tour" and we just fell in love. Last year my Dad bought a crush unlimited sport and this year I bought my 13 White Sahara Unlimited. We love it and I don't think we'll ever go back to anything else. I've been perusing this board ever since and I love the fact that everyone is just as friendly on here as they are when they wave driving past you. People ask the same question in a post that was asked a day before and everyone jumps to answer and not berate the person for repeating a thread. Totally different from any other board I've ever followed.

Anyways... Question for everyone and again this may be stupid, I don't know. I've always done full synthetic oil changes with my cars. What does the jeep come with from the factory? I just hit 3k miles and I guess I should get it in anyways but with my wife's Infiniti, I go 10k between changes and I didn't know if the Wrangler came with Synthetic where I could go to 5 or if I really need to change it at 3 and then change every 10? I know it would probably help if I pulled the manual but I'm at work and I just thought of this so I don't have it in front of me. I'm just curious about everyone's first experience with that.

Also, not to bring up the debate of warranty vs no warranty, I purchased the lifetime warranty because it helps me sleep at night even if most of the time I spend more on the warranty than on repairs... I do want to try to keep this forever... I was sent the paperwork in the mail for the warranty and it really had nothing in it. I know I've read on here some requirement for getting everything checked out by the dealer ever X amount of miles to not void the lifetime... does anyone know where I can find that for sure?

Thanks again!
