RevCo666 Last time I checked my MPG was before some must needed changes (o2 sensors and different spark plugs) during my trip back from picking up my jeep last year I ended up with 13.89MPG. Since then I haven't done any major trips and its been in town only which is not worth calculating unless I need to pull out the rest of my hair on my head (which I have none lol).

i have the exact opposite experience. NGK does make great spark plugs but I have actually had better results in all my vehicles running Champions. I am running Champion 7034's in my TJ and seeing very good (for a TJ) fuel economy.
who are you quoting?

flflash Threads like these depress me.
Over the years I've owned a 70 CJ5 with a 231 V-6, a 78 CJ7 304 ci V-8 a 85 Jeep Scrambler 258 6 cyl an 87 YJ with a 2.5 a 97 TJ 4.0 and currently own a 03 4.0 TJ and a 05 Rubicon.... Not the first one of them has done better than 16mpg.

My wifes 2010 JK knocks out 20-21 everday.

Well I have put two bottles of Seafoam in my tank in two fillups and that helped alot more than I ever thought it would. I had Champin spark plugs and found them to be total crap I changed out mine with NGK vpower plugs that come stock with my 04 TJ and they worked great saw an increase in power and MPG over the champan plugs.

Early shifting and having cruise help I can get 18 going to work everyday and get 300mi outta a tank well 17 gal. Cleaned the throttle body and run synthetic oil in everything DIffs, engine, trans.

About 60 miles of the 208 where done on highway. The only mod that was done by po was a flow master exhaust. I am missing they black plastic tube that connects to the air filter box and intake so I have a pretty decent opening in my air filter box, but buddy of mine said that wouldn't effect mpg. How many gallons is this gas tank and is this a normal amount of mpg for this year? Thanks for the help
I can get 300 mi out of my tank But I know I have a 19gal tank and when my gauge light lights up I still have 6 gal left when it I take note of my ODO and at my 18MPG calculate I can go another about 80 mi when I fill up I get about 17 gal in the tank leaving 2 gal reserve.

for you fill it when the light comes on see how much you fill it with bet it is 5 gal or more left in the tank.

X2. While taking my Jeep on a road trip I noticed my mpg take a nosedive, and then it just cutout in the middle of nowhere. Long story short, it turned out my intake was all types of clogged.
Speaking with the mechanic I believe the long trip from cold, moist WA to hot, dry AZ might have knocked some crap from the filter and there ya go. They completely cleaned and tuned her up and it was like night and day.
Whether DIY or taking it to a shop definitely look into this next.

miketx I've never gotten above 18 mpg in my 98 with 4.0 / 5 spd.....15-16 is the usual. And mine is perfectly in tune. I stopped trying to improve it.......she runs great, that's all that matters.

ChaddG 2001 tj, I get about 14-16 city, 18-20 hwy

That's the reason I shut mine off when fueling. Or else you never get to leave the station. LOL

I'm not sure what I'm doing, I have 165K on the clock too. I'm pretty happy with 14+ mpg though.

You're definitely doing well for 35's. I think all the rigs mentioned that were getting 16+ were stocks, including mine.

My dog is so kid dog friendly she barely bites her food. I rescued her when she was 5 from a shelter and is my best buddy. My wife thought it was time to get another dog since I was downsized and have nothing to do all day.
