|WatchThis!||Makes perfect since to me. I would be more then happy with a free winch, no matter what it was.|

Ha, I was wondering if that would come up. It was a birthday gift from my dad. He knew I wanted a winch and the X20 is a pretty good deal. No doubt Smitty has some crap out there that's for sure. But as far as winches go, I've been pulled by several and have never personally seen one fail. Maybe some day I can upgrade to a full on Comp winch and rig the smitty to the rear but for now at least I've got something.
I've got some stupid silly plans for it next fall but aside from a few odds and ends this should be about how it sits for the summer wheeling season.

Looks great, I just have one question. Why spend so much money on such a beefy build and cheap out on a Smittbuilt X20?
Heck I am regretting going with an M series warn winch and am looking to upgrade.

Update, finally installed my ARB, gears, Aussie locker, and RCVs. And decided to go ahead and ditch the fenders while I was at it. I've got a Smitty X20 sitting in my garage waiting to go on too, just waiting for my winch plate, and recovery gear to show up from Northridge.
I had to install spacers as well to push the wheels out, no more rubbing at full turn! I absolutely love the way it looks and performs right now.

|traitor08||Looks good and at one time I would have loved to go to Colorado. But since I am in the gun industry that has changed. Still a pretty state, but won't ever go back.|

Was having a tough time deciding on my axle situation. I decided I won't be happy until I am on 1 tons but I won't be doing that this summer. I went ahead and ordered RCVs for my thirty and Synergy Ball joints. I was skeptical to spend the money on the dirty 30, but I have no real desire to go to a 44 front so I will continue to drive on this axle until I am ready to go big. Parts should be here in two days.
And with that, for those with non rubis that intend to stay on 35s and are debating buying a 44. Save your money. A lot of Interweb rumors around saying your axle will grenade as soon as you go bigger than 33s. Just sleeve and gusset that sucker and get some good shafts. If you aren't driving like an ass on the skinny pedal you'll be fine.

Good news and bad news. Bad news is I have shoulder surgery and won't be able to drive my Jeep for a few Weeks since I'll be on pain killers. The good news is I'll have plenty of time to finally install all my parts that have been piling up! Gears, lockers, and diff covers.
What a beautiful sight!

|Rooster454||The 37's look awesome man. I love those wheels. I bet your steering feels a lot better now too|
|03-03-2013 12:42 PM|
|jagerhelix||Thanks! I've been wanting to make the jump since I put my 35s on lol. Can't wait to actually use them on obstacles that gave me some trouble before to compare. I'll at least be happy with these for quite some time. They match my 3.5 lift much better IMO.|
|03-02-2013 09:19 PM|
damn, 37's look sweet. wonder if I should just skip 35's and go to 37's lol. nahhhhhhhh....well....I don't know.
anyway, looks like you're having a lot of fun with it and using a jeep for what it was built to do. looks great!

Finally nice enough to try on my new tube doors. I wasn't sure how I would like them but they are awesome! Highrock 4x4 Element Doors with Bestop cover/pouches.

|jagerhelix||Just added aev procal, got tired of eyeballing my steering wheel when re centering. Will be nice to finally adjust for my tires and turn off tpms too!|

Finally got the jeep back out there. The Ram assist is flat out awesome Super easy and smooth to turn even at a dead stop in 4L. On to what matters...Pics!
|01-31-2013 08:15 PM|
Finally had the time to tie up loose ends on my steering setup. I was throwing a left front wheel sensor code that illuminated my ESP, ABS lights, and disengaged my hill start assist. So I bought a replacement sensor and during install realized I had accidentally pinched the wiring in half during my steering setup. So my stock sensor was fine and it ended up being a wire cutter and electrical tape fix. But all lights are now off and everything works fine now
I'll finally be testing out my steering setup on Chinaman Gulch (CO) on Saturday. I'll post pics

That's how I got off a trail once too. Gotta love jeep folks. Some will let you pull parts off their truck to get yours out if a bind!
|01-06-2013 11:09 PM|
Well I've gotten the jeep back on the road at least. My PSC Ram assist setup showed up two days ago and I've got most of it installed. I couldn't finish the ram yet because my tie rod has not shown up yet so I would be pointless. But I've gotten the Pump, Reservoir, and gear box in. Unfortunately I've got a small leak somewhere I can't quite pinpoint. I'm sure it's still somewhere either going in or coming out of the reservoir. I'll revisit it tomorrow and try to isolate and fix it before I add anymore confusion to the mix. It's less than one drop a minute but still very irritating.
I will say I was a bit worried about DW since I had to remove the steering stabilizer, and with the tie rod being bent. But It drives true, just a little "floaty" at the moment. Hopefully by tomorrow it'll be good to go again.
My ESP has completely given up on trying and now I've got the ESP and ABS light on and my Hill assist is also not working. Once I get the tie rod on tomorrow and recenter the steering wheel via the drag link I'm hoping the computer wants to play nice again. Pretty sure those three specific are all connected.
Ram mount and bent ass tie rod
I swear someday I will clean this jeep!
