If only there was an American resource in great abundance that burned cleaner...

And NG burns cleaner than coal (and other fossil fuels), wasn't that pelosi's point?

Neither one justifies lying to prove the point, though, does it?

If ya want to be really technical, methane (natural gas) can also be harvested. Most dairy operations use this technology to some degree to facilitate in their operations. This form is totally renewable, but people who can think (unlike pelosi) call it biomass. 7 second sound bites don't say that, though.

But then again, bohner lied about small business taxes, got called on it, admitted he was wrong... then did it again. He lied about offers on sequestration. Then, more to the topic, he claimed 95% of Ohios power came from coal... which is not true. Roughly 78%, according to the state of Ohio, is coal produced. 11% is nuclear, and 9% is gas. In 2008, though, they passed legislation requiring no more than 75% coal production power and at least 12.5% true renewable (wind, solar, hydro), which has been expanded to include biomass, by 2025. From 2010 to 2011, they dropped coal power production 10%.

Liers in congress are like drops in the ocean. And it is both sides.

Yes, this is well said............................
And we also agree on Pelosi's mentality. WOW, that is great!

No, I wouldn't. Hand outs are hand outs - wouldn't you say? Amnesty of all illegals is amnesty of all illegals, yes? Because there were less then than now does not make it a better program. The Reagan administration, if you'll remember, was going to fix immigration reform once and for all less than 35 years ago, and now we have 4 times what we did then. Call a spade a spade, man. Both plans fall short of a solution.

...

Beyond that, the #1 supplies of coal are China, the US, and India. The #1 supplies of NG are the US, Russia, Canada, and Iran. There are 948 Billion short-tons of coal left unmined. There are 850 Trillion cubic-meters of gas left unmined. We can switch now, as a transitional fuel, or we can wait till we run out of coal. How much do you think coal from China will cost on your electric bill? If cost is our concern, you should also know NG is cheaper almost everywhere.

Coal is dirty, destructive, and a heavy source of pollution. It is the way of the 20th century: Welcome to the 21st.

We are all Americans who care about our country and its future- just from different perspectives. If we stopped the vilification and focused on our common needs, rather than ideology, we could move this country and ourselves in a far more productive way. We need to stop being on one side of an aisle or another and start meeting on the common ground between.
Couldn't have said it better ( ) and that is my point. If we stop the "my side was right when we did it, your side is wrong for doing it" line of logic (along with the zombie-like voting solely on party lines), we can actually accomplish something good. Let's all have independent values, then come together and truthfully assess our past, then make a better plan for tomorrow. I know, wishful thinking, particularly while $$$ dominates politics... =)

And just to throw it in, Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Bush Dubya. Lmfao. Blaming it all on 1 is the same, whether you are 'extreme right' hating communist bamers or 'extreme left' hating facist dubya. Spade a spade.

The blame game gets us nowhere, and God knows there is enough of that to go around. The book also talks about how labeling is keeping us divided and preventing dialogue. People are more than a label- fat, right wing, liberal, crazy, sexist. A person can be a fiscal conservative and a social liberal and all stripes in between. We are complex individuals with lots of attributes and by focusing on one we immediately cut off our ability to learn and share the valuable views of others.

True indeed. However, I firmly believe that our politicians are simply lining their pockets.

It would be far better for American energy to produce additonal Nat Gas and limit coal plants while developing renewable sources, an obviously inevitable concluson. The problem with Nat Gas, though, is leaks like experienced with fracking. That causes methane to be released and if only 1% of production is leaked, it is worse (greenhouse gas wise) than coal plants due to the differences in CO2 and methane. Tree-hugger or not, we have an obligation to give our great-grandkids a fighting chance. Using up the only goo as fast as we want, measured by our economic desires of 'freedom', is not a good way to do that.
