roadyrob you will need a new carrier for the higher gears. yes 3.73 will fit in the d30 with the correct carrier, i believe the max is 4.88. yj's are high pinion and reverse rotation.

Help with my 3.07 gears

I just counted the ring and pinion teeth on my 1989 YJ Dana 30, and I have a 3.07 setup. I would like to move up to a 3.73 or even a 4.10, but here are my questions.

1) Will my current carrier work for a 3.73 or higher?
2) Will a 3.73 or higher fit into the Dana 30 I have with 3.07 currently installed?
3) How do I determine if I have a standard for reverse rotation?

I assume the carrier probably won't work, so that being the case, does anyone have a recommendation for a locker. I was looking at a EATON E-locker.

Thanks.

Jimmy
