Rugged Ridge Snorkel Installation

I installed the Rugged Ridge snork on my 2013 JK Sport last weekend and I am going in some deep water tomorrow so that will be my first real test of the new setup...

Regarding the install, a couple people asked for tips, so here goes...

1) beat the hell out of your exhaust heat shield. Really. Get a big screw driver and a big hammer and beat it back out of the way. There is an additional heat shield on the aluminum tube in the kit so don't worry about really pounding the existing shield. You WILL need the clearance and if it is rubbing at all you may have a pressure point under the 3" clamp and you do not want this.

2) Put on the RTV coat LIGHT. Very Light. and let it set before you tighten down the clamp. LET IT SET COMPLETELY. If you put pressure on the rubber before the RTV has set the rubber hose will just try and slide off.

3) Put the WHOLE THING TOGETHER before you put any RTV on anything, before you cut anything and before you clamp anything. THEN cut the rubber hose to the correct height. THEN refit everything and screw the new lower airbox in place and bolt on the snork to the cowl. After all this is done, Tighten down the bolt that holds the aluminum tube in place. Now that you have everything fitted and the aluminum tube mounted, remove everything else (keep the aluminum bolted in place) and then follow the installation instructions.
