That is such great news! Looks like I will be making my purchase tomorrow since quadratec has them on sale. I love the rapid response on this forum, thank you so much.

|RalphTomaccio||I have a Harkin with my 2012 and with the way it is designed, I cannot imagine it not working with a 2013 or 14. The straps that are provided are very long. I don't believe there is any difference in the tops. The description from Harkin simply has not been updated to reflect the more recent years.|

|Get your jeep on||I have a similar question, I have a three piece hardtop with a Yakima kayak rack mounted to the top. Is there a hoist that will work for me? I looked at the lange but it doesn't seem like the J hooks or the L hook are long enough to cover the distance from the T bar to the hardtop. I looked at the harkin hoister, but it says it only works for 2007 two 2012 hard tops, I have a 2013. Any suggestions?|

|Oberst Hajj||My manual hoist showed up and I plan to get it installed sometime this week so I can put the new spiderwebshade that also came in on for the run this weekend.|

For those of you with a Top Cat hoist, can you tell me how far out from the rear window the crank portion extends? I'm concerned with it possibly hitting my kayak which is also suspended from the ceiling that would be behind the hoist.
Also, I have a Thule rack on my hard top and would like to know if you think the rack, which extends 4 1/2" above the top, would interfere with the hoist.

|DRJJH1||Thanks for all the advice and offers of help. I think I'm gonna give it a go to install myself. What could go wrong right? (sound of hard top crashing to the ground...)|

Ive got the racor hoist in my garage. My beams were going the right way luckily so I didnt have to put any more 2x4's up. I just drilled marked the drywall (after studfinding), drilled the pilot holes and bolted it up.
My biggest suggestion is take your time in figuring out the right spot to mount it. Mine is off just slightly which makes it more of a task getting in position to strap on the roof. Kinda cockeyed.

|DRJJH1||not sure which hoist to go with (any suggestions). I have 13 foot ceiling and it's finished with dry wall. There is an attic above that. I was thinking if I have to do it myself, mounting a 2x4 to a couple rafters using a stud finder over the drywall (like Thomm99 suggested) and then mount the hoist to that?|

Its super easy, honestly you couldnt really mess this up unless you dont have any rafters to bolt in to.
Which hoist are you getting?

|Oberst Hajj||I'll probably be doing this my self in a week or so down here in the Springs. It's a very simple install, not much more then putting bike hooks in your garage ceiling.|

|thomm99||You are probably not going to find anyone who specializes in something like this, but most any decent handyman could do it for you. Not sure which one you purchased, but the install is relatively simple. To be safe, I anchored a piece of 2x4 across 2 joists and then anchored the eyebolt for the hoist in the middle of the 2x4. I did something similar for the come-along (manual Lange hoist) on the wall. The extra anchors are not really necessary, but I thought it would be safer to spread the weight across 2 anchor points.|

Top Hoist installation Colorado
Does anyone know of a company in the Denver Colorado area that installs garage hoists for a hard top. I'm pretty sure I could do it myself but would feel better paying someone with experience to do it for me.. Thanks for any info.
