|jp2611||Good skills there ...... like the looks...and good plan for something to protect the tailgate...only question I have, Will the rear tire contact the leading edge of bumper in a full flex hard throttle situation? It looks great, and maybe it is the angle of the Pics from the back, but it "appears" the tire COULD make contact with the bumper.|

After hating the rear bumper and the way it stuck out in the back for 2 years and Finally got off my azz and got after this project!
Bobbed off frame right in front of crossmember. Then inlet said frame for a 1/4 X 2" angle iron running full width of frame. right under the body sheet metal.
Then installed said angle iron into frame for a new cross member
Then took a chunk of 6 inch wide by 1 3/4 inch deep "C" channel and went to modifying it to make it look like a bumper
Welded up some shackle mounts
Proceeded to drill holes in afore mentioned angle iron and welded some nuts on the back side
Then put the finishing touches on the bumper
And VOILA!!!! New bumper; about a hundred bucks, using all new materials!!!!Departure angle----GREATLY improved!!!! I still need to build a rail around the top edge to protect tailgate if backing into something. but that is in the works!!
