UPDATE - Here are the new bumpers and winch, the new nerf bars are going on Saturday. My son did all of this work, I am proud of him for getting in there and busting some knuckles!

Not sure if it was the right choice as their are so many out there but we are happy and they seem to be built very well and installation was pretty easy, so easy a 15 year old can do it.
I will post some pics of the nerfs after we get them on and then the lift kit is next!!!! Good times!!!!

2" lift is a lot simpler and cheaper than 3".
31's will fit on stock rims, I think you gotta buy wider rims for 33's with different backspacing.

Great info everyone!!!! Please keep the advice coming and in the meantime I am looking at all your suggestions and links.
I think now maybe a 2 to 3 inch lift and 33's sounds the best for what we would be doing. But should I mount the tires to the stock rims? Will this be good or do I need to buy new rims as well? I think the stock rims in the pic are 16's and 8" wide.

|DBoat||I would suggest a budget 2" lift at first and 33s. Lots cheaper, and it will probably give you the stance and look you want. If you go 4" and 33s or 35s, getting in and out of it becomes a bit more of a chore than you may want from a daily driver.. in fact, get the 33s first without the lift and see how you like it. I did a lot of searching on bumpers before I pulled the trigger on them.. I got the JCROffroad rear because it offers everything, lights, trailer hitch, hi lift jack storage, rotopax storage in a bomb proof setup. I went with the metalcloak aluminum front bumper because I liked the design and I went aluminum to save weight. One of the things I have been doing with my build is to buy aluminum where it makes sense and to keep weight gain as low as possible. My skids are aluminum too.|

|Evpjr||A 3" lift will do for most any "off roading" unless you plan on "rock crawling." 33's all around will give you the traction you need for this, and it won't take too much away from your gas mileage. Also, you will not want to mount a winch to the bumper. Always if possible, bolt it on the frame.|

2) Depends on how much lift you get, what kind of driving you'll be doing and what you want to spend to run the tire size you choose properly.
2a) Using the stock wheels you should be fine. And your rims already look good!
2b) To run 35's you'll need new gears, brakes, steering and the lift. You have a Rubi so you already have a fixed yoke, no need for a SYE. BUT you will need to get a new rear driveshaft that is a CV shaft.
3/4) Like others have said it's personal choice for this. But I would look at JCR off-road, they have some nice stuff. Also look at the Ebay guys like dirtworx, groundfab, and nates 4x4.

BDS suspension is great.
Another to look at is OME. Many, including myself, run OME hybrid kits from DPGoffroad.com.
The OME Ultimate kit is a great complete kit for a wrangler that will give you wonderful performance on and off road. My ride and handling has improved tremendously with this kit.
Most important piece of advice...-DONT rush into a mod...
I spent about a year looking for the right lift for me perfect for running 33's
Running 35's properly gets very complicated and expensive... SYE, break lines, gearing, and poor gas mileage...
You will get farther in a stock jeep with a front lunch box locker, than a big lifted jeep on 35s with open diff's.
You already have locked diff's. So going over a 33 inch tire is not necessary. IMO
Front bumpers are mostly personal choice. I like the stock bumper with a mounted winch. You can chop it and make it a stubby. Looks good saves money.
As for rear bumpers, don't go cheap. They will rattle and shake and be awful.
Heard good things about warn, Smitty built. Also! There is a guy on the 'jeep forum' who custom builds rear bumper/tire carriers. There awesome. I just got mine.

I agree. I have 2inch BDS springs and Bilstein shocks. Rides like factory. Congrats on picking up your new ride.

You should take a look at BDS suspension or Savvy , IMO is better to take different brand components for the suspension, I have BDS 3'' springs and Bilsteins shocks and the ride is great! As for tires Im running 33's, I would recommend you to pick the 33's and see how it feels for a while.
As for bumpers theres a couple of good brands out there.
Use the search tool in the forum, theres ton of info here.

New to Jeep - New to Forum - Need Opinions
Hello everyone!!!! I am new to the Jeep family, I ran across this little jewel hidden away in someones barn so I bought it for my son (spoiled ).
2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
We are going to start working on it together and want to do a few things so we are looking for suggestions and opinions!
1) Suspension Lift - Thinking 4 inches - want a great highway ride as well as medium off road performance
2) Tires - (here is where we need some good guidance) should we go 33's or 35's?
2A) If 33's should I just get some that fit the stock rims? Will they look good and be OK for clearance?
2B) If 35's do I need to start worrying about gears (I think it has 4:10 gears in it) and drive shaft mods?
3) Bumper Front - where should I start all I know is I want something nice that will hold a wench?
4) Bumper Rear - preferably a matching style that will hold a larger spare tire?
I am sure there is more but these should keep us busy a while . Thank you very much in advance for your input!!!!!!
