A friend gave me the nickname "Handyman" because I transfer into an organization, fix and make improvements, and then leave to the next one. He thought I was nuts.
I find 5-6 years is when I start getting bored and could use a change. I was 6 years with the State, 9.5 with my first City, and 4.5 with the current City. Both cities I've worked for have made major systems and process changes along with lots of personnel changes which help keep it interesting.

Notwithstanding, there's nothing wrong with a temporary sugar daddy scenario so long as you can take him for what he's worth. If I know of any, I'll send him your way...right after I take his young daughter.

Didn't think so. And yes you gotta find the humor in things. Having been an auditor for so long, I actually used to wear comical ties just to ease the tension. It worked 99 percent of the time.
