JerryOnly Mine too noticed the very faint squeal at low rpm with "feather foot" gas 1/8 pushed. I've come to the conclusion it's throttle body noise in my newly acquired 07 JK. I'm going to try the spacer solution

priell3 You will get a better response if you post this in the YJ forum being that you have a 1986 model. This is the JK forum, 2007 and newer models.

1. All new belts
2. New Alternator

I have a loud squeal noise as soon as I start my 1989 6cyl Wrangler up. It is a v belt not serp. So first I thought it was the belts. Replaced them all. Not the problem. Next alternator was bad replaced that with new one. The squeal is still there. So to narrow the search for which pulley is making the noise I pull off each belt one at a time. First was the (red) belt in the pic which goes to the A/C unit, water pump, harmonic. Noise still there. So I put that belt back on and removed the power steering one (Blue) which was also connected to water pump and harmonic. Noise still here. So I next removed all three belts and engine stopped squealing. So the only items that was linking the belt was the harmonic and water pump. The harmonic alone made no noise. So in troubleshooting it points to the water pump that is shot because thats the only item that connected to the two belts besides the harmonic. SO I replaced the water pump. Noise there. Im lost now because the only other item I can say it is the harmonic but its spinning fine with no resistance. I am 100% confused and need som help. Please help me ASAP i need this on the road so without a loud @$$ squeall.. Thanks Dan

Squealing noise but not from the belts or power steering when I accelerate

I cant figure this out. I have the v belt drive to I removed the power steering belt problem still there. I remove the a/c belt instead the problem still there. I removed both belts and it stopped. So i am not sure but I think it may be the water pump or clutch fan. Can someone help me because I dont want to pull the pump of if its just the fan that does this. Please help ASAP.
