|sgtpowell63||Bought a 2013 JKU dual top and just put the soft top on today, for the first time. Man was that a chore. Taking the hard top off wasn't hard just bulky and awkward. My girlfriend and I made the mistake of not hooking the front latch prior to putting in the windows and buttoning everything else down. Needless to say I had to partially unzip the back window and unlatch it and unhook the back corner flaps. I then slide both seats up as far as I could to gain leverage and then I was able to hook the front latches. Once I hooked them I buttoned up the back and latched the front down. It looks good and will be on for a while before I put the hard top back on.|

I just did the same thing on my 2013 JKUR.
My advice is to either build a hoist on your garage ceiling (what I did) or enlist the help of a really good friend. I got mine off by myself, but definitely took a couple tries to get the home made hoist to balance right with the top on. Become familiar with the dual top pages in the manual (can get a download from jeep.com) that starts around page 200. Torx #40 on 8 screws on the top. Don't forget to unhook the electrical and washer fluid.
If you don't already have the brackets that attach the top to the roll bar under the velcro flaps, you'll need those. The top I bought off CL had the brackets attached to the top, but I had to go buy the torx #30 bolts from the stealership. Also, make sure you have the velcro straps to hold the bars down when in sunrider or all the way down.
One last thing, you might want to remove the floating nut receivers for the hard top screws once you have it off. The ones closest to the tailgate come right off after sliding them to one side, but the others are a little tricky. I left them on for a few days, but the rattling got to me eventually and I had to get the others off. Take a look at the ones that you pull off near the tailgate to see how you need to push/pull the others off. Basically, I had to pull the bracket towards the underside of the lip and then slide it towards the inside of the vehicle to clear the lip on the underside of the body. That really sounds confusing, but it might make a bit more sense once you get the back ones off and look at how they were secured to the body.

After you get it connected.. this is a great video to watch, but remember you will need to put on your soft top door surrounds before you raise the soft top

And a swear jar...with a good supply of quarters to put in it....
Oh...and gloves...(or a pair of pliers...just to grab the zipper with).
However, I can't remember if the brackets that go on the roll bar use a T-40 or not?

Wrangler rookie looking for soft top install advice
I just bought my first Wangler (2013 JKU) with a hard top, and decided to buy a Mopar OEM soft top from craigslist. Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time finding any information on what tools I will need to remove my hard top and install the soft top besides a power drill/screw driver, socket wrench (size?), pliers, and 12 pack of coors light.
Can anyone let me know what tools I will need to remove the hard top and install the soft top?
Also - the guy I'm buying the soft top from bought his Wrangler with the dual top group, so I'm wondering if anyone has a list of parts I should be sure he includes that may come attached to the body/roll bar.
