Pushrod If you want to do primative camping there are tons of places in the Ouachita National Forest to camp, lots of creeks and unpaved roads etc. One place that I would recommend is Little Missouri Falls area. I have seen bear signs (scat) there so be careful to not leave food where they would be attracted.
If you want to camp with shower houses and flush toilets go to the camp grounds on Lake Degray near Arkadelphia or Lake Ouachita near Hot Springs. Both of these lakes have nice camp grounds but Lake Ouachita is near Ouachita National Forest.

jmcc75 Beautiful areas all around the state. I will say Texarkana is pretty flat so you'd have to come in a little further to have some fun. I'm actually heading down to Humble in a couple days so who knows I might pass ya on the way down there

Barmanvarn Head over to the area of hot springs and lake Ouachita. Great camping and nice scenic roads.

Good places to camp?

Are there any nice places anywhere in Arkansas (preferably closer to Texas) to camp out and maybe use the jeep a little? Not hardcore wheelin but nice scenic drives on unpaved roads with maybe a little water fording etc.
I've seen beautiful pictures of Arkansas and jeeps, and i'm very curious as down here in Houston we have not much but thick mud.
