Actually they also have the weld on Ace sliders now too. With these you cannot use the Rubi rails.

Dusthol They mount up where the body bolts are at. Remove body bolts. Grind flat spot on washer. Put bolt back in.

Kiddmen57 ACE with Rubi Rails is my vote. The Rubi Rails fill in the gap superbly. You shouldn't have to pay any more than $100 for a set of take off Rubi Rails.

A buddy of mine picked up a set of rubi rails for his sport with ACE sliders. He and I have tested the ACE rails quite a bit and they have held up very well.



Here his driver side ACE rail is riding down a "point" on the rock ledge....a little scrapped up but held its ground.

OrangeJeepGuy Lets be honest. I Jeep on a budget. I couldn't afford to go the ACE/Rubi combo. My kids 5 & 8 needed a step. I really like the look of the Smitty for the $300 price tag. I don't plan on rock crawling either. Just an occasional camping trip.

Lithium Lotus Smittbilt also makes a Rubicon style rock rail. They call them SRC Classic.

76635 for 2-door $199.99
76636 for 4-door $219.99

I bought the 2-door version and added on the Synergy DIY side-step to it. It attached to the factory mounting points like the oem Rubicon rails.

Another thing you could do is get the very bottom of the rocker panel, the area the Rubicon rail would cover, and have to coated in truck bed liner. Then just bolt up the ACE sliders.

woansleftpeg I have the Smittybilt. I think the general concensus is that you pay a little less for them because they're probably not quite as tough or as well made as the Ace sliders.

The Smittys do definitely hang down further than the Ace, because they have an additional rail welded underneath - IMO, that three dimensional aspect is what makes them look so good, but if you were crawling it could also cause you clearance issues that you wouldn't get with the Ace products.

Also, the Ace stuff is American-made, Smittybilt is made in China. To some people that matters.

Dusthol I have the ace and I run without the rubi rails. It don't bother me a bit. I use them as a step and to stand on when washing the top.

ACER Sliders w/ or w/o Rubi Rails vs. Smittybilt SRC Side Armor

I was curious about some opinions on the ACE sliders with or without the rubi rails and the Smittybilt SRC side armor slider/step. The ACE sliders come highly recommended. I know a lot of people like them with the rubi rails both for looks and function. I have also read that folks have been pleased with the Smittybilt SRC side armor slider/step.

The ACE rails alone are about $400 and the Smittybilt SRC side armor is about $350 (close enough in price). The rubi rails are about $400 unless you find some good used ones which I did and I can get them for about $250. So total costs for the ACE/Rubi rail combo would be about $650.

My questions Are:

- Do the ACE rails look good enough by themselves to wait on the rubi rails?
- Do the ACE rails function just as good without the rubi rails?
- Is it worth the almost $300 price difference to go with the ACE/Rubi rail combo?
- Would I be money ahead by just getting the Smittybilt SRC side armor instead?
- Some say the Smittybilt SRC Side Armor hangs down too far or further than the ACE rails. If so, by how much? Does it hang down far enough to make any real difference?

FYI:
- I would need these just as much or more for a step than I would for off-road protection.
- I am no hardcore rock crawler or hardcore off-roader. Just simple stuff by a lot of folk's standards.
