G54 Well, we'll be camping for a few days a Lakeport State Park north of Port Huron in a couple weeks.

sgnellett I try not to be outdoors much if I find myself in the Detroit area, but I guess that's just me..

I did that and looked at pics and info on the various state parks. I was just hoping for some 1st hand opinions on the nicest park in the Detroit, Wyandott area.

State Park Info Please

The wife and dog and I will be up visiting a friend in Wyandotte this July and would like to stay at one of your fine State Parks and camp for a couple days first. I was thinking about Bay City, Algonac or any others in the "thumb" area. Any info on the nicest park within a couple hours of there would be appreciated.
Good hiking trails & wooded for shade would be nice.

Also, I heard the Deer Ticks are becoming a problem on the west coast of Mich, but I was wondering about the east side of the state.

(BTW - This is not a wheeling trip)
