Son Of A Beoch!!!!OMG!!! I am so disappointed! DUH....Darn Monopoly Card! I didn't know there was 2 Pennsylvania properties....GO Fricken Figure. Part of me is laughing inside...though a bit mad at my self. I thank you VERY much for telling me...before I went to the store tomorrow and got the disappointment and embarrasment...lol. UH....Guess I'll be holding back on the Jeep purchaces after all.... :'(

Won the Lottery! ($500 anyway!!!)
HO! I won the lottery! Five Hundred anyway! I am going to buy those step up running boards and a hood kit now! Maybe a thing or too more, I am trying to decide whether to buy some spacers to make my tires stick out further, or just wait till I decide to buy wheels some day, maybe even next year. I am thinking about buying the stainless steel hood kit, and someday getting simular wheels and basically have it decked out in chrome etc...stay tuned for new pictures (hood kit/running boards)!
So, what do yall think about spacers, and stainless accents?
Check it out (my scratch off) over on the right where it shows $500!!! WHOOO HOOO! I never won that much. I spend less than $20 a year on lotto!

I got my new tires!!! Check it out!
I have my Tires! I went to my local mechanic...and as I pulled up with them in the back of my jeep, he said "I hate to tell you this, but those wonít fit on your jeep." I got out, waited in silence, I said, "Well...I had a mechanic suggest I get this size, and I even researched for a month before I bought them, with many people telling me this was the size they had, that worked at wrangleforum.com. Could you just put one on each side, and if there is a problem, call me and I'll come back up here to look at it."
SO...I left, got a call 45 minutes later, he said "Your Jeep's Ready" LOL. I went up there, he said he drove around the parking lot all is well. It is very close, but it works . I thought it looked amazing I was ecstatic!
As for performance, SOMEDAY...if I ever have an extra 1500 or so...I'd like to get it re-geared. I lose speed going up the high rise bridges around here when in 5th gear. SO...I would also have problems if I was ever to take it to the mountains (unlikely) but I have lost speed, and my speedometer needs adjusted. I feel quite a bit higher off the road, thatís cool!
Can you give me the website to those $56 Rims? I spent $80 Mounting tires yesterday, so I'll probably ride on these rims for a while...before I have them re-mounted for 80 again...But I'll save it in my Fav's, and definitely get them before too long. Maybe in a few months. I can tell now the next major thing that I really really need is a higher lift. Maybe next spring at latest.
Next Mods on my list: I HAVE to get a Hood Kit. My Hood Catch on drivers side broke 3 days ago, as you can see in the pics (it was there when the hard top was on, it was off when the top was off...lol) SO...I have to get a Hood kit. I am thinking about getting Stainless Steel, though it is all black now. What do yall think? I am also going to get some running boards, short people struggle to get up in here already
DUH...OH YEAH...Sunday I had a new Sony Stereo installed (my old one broke) and had my Amp mounted under the rear seat! I am booming again! In the picture of me, that is the stereo remote in my hand...that is awesome as well. My Amp cuts off occasionally. I donít know if it is because it gets too hot under the seat, if I am pushing too much bass from my stereo, or if it is because the installer bridged my speakers. That sucks though...
The seat covers and steering wheel cover are also new.
Entry Guard, Hood Kit, and Possibly Running boards, I'll be getting hopefully in 2 weeks. Please send me suggestions for a chrome running board, or a good price on any of this. (with links)

|fick15||I just got a set of Black Rock 15x10 for mine! Quadratec had them for 59 bucks a rim! They have a ton of rims for pretty cheap...with 400 extra a month you could get a full set next month to go on your nice new tires...Backspacing kinda messed me up at first. I got mine with a 4.5" backspacing and they sit nicely. But i was talking to another guy who went with 3" backspacing and his looked pretty nice too. Ohio has a law for Tires sticking out without flares. Next on my list is 4" upward!!|

|Jon H||I have a nice set of black steel wheels(American racing I think) I looked at steel wheels and I think they're around $40 a wheel. You could get a wheel with an offset or you could just get some small spacers for the wheel, either way the tires will stick out more.|

What RIMS should I get for my new tires?
Ok, now that my tires are on the way. Now I want to research and get some nice Rims in the future. Will any of you please give me some links to some Rims that will look good with my new 31x10.5R15 Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac's I bought today online. I would like some with the type of backspacing that will make my tires stick out a few inches and make it look tough! Please give me more advice on that. Thank you By the way, I read that if it is too much backspacing, it could strain the axle...so I would like some Rim's that would be safe on my axle but still look tough.
As for the Shackle Kit already being on my Jeep...no wonder my stock tires looked so tiny! The lift made them look smaller! LOL

Good News...Buying Tires finally!
Guess what, I went to Advance Auto today, to ask about body lifts. Then I asked about shackle lifts, and she said we have those on the shelf. Long story short, after I knew what I was looking at, the shackle kit, I went outside with the Advance person, and LOW AND BEHOLD....there is already a 2 inch kit on the front, and a 1 inch shackle lift on the rear!!!! That must be why that mechanic quoted me to get the 31's, for I already had a little lift!!! I didnít know what to look for before. I just thought it was all stock since the tires were. Maybe the person who owned the Jeep before me had nice tires and rims on it...but sold them separately, and threw these stock tires on to sell the Jeep! SOOOOO!! I am so excited. I went to Discount Tire, Custom Wheels, Truck & Car Rims | Discount Tire which is where I could find the cheapest tires online!!...(they have free shipping!) TONIGHT bought me some Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac Tires 31x10.5 15R just like the mechanic recommended. Though he recommended the Goodrich, I just liked the tread on these AT tires better, same price range and size. SOOOO I am so excited. I also bought me some seat covers today, and a steering wheel cover. Now I need a nice Spare Cover. THAT IS NEXT. I am not sure where to get one yet, but I think I'll enjoy shopping for it online. OH... Lastly, I am going to put up one of those pop up tents, to drive my Jeep under, and I'll be going Topless for the summer. I wish I had the money for a soft top but...maybe later. I'll post Before and After pictures soon, so stay tunned!

|Ol' Red||^I agree if you just want to fit 31's you should do a 1 inch shackle lift or 1 inch body lift. You might not have to regear if you do 30's or 31's, its when you get into big tires like 33's that you almost HAVE to regear a 4 cylinder. Don't get mud tires for sand, they are not good for sand (at least that is what I heard). I guess they dig up the sand and make you sink more. Something like an all terrain or even more of a road tire might be good in the sand.|

|Jon H||I would go for the shackle lift. I just bought a very good heavy duty welded pair of shackles for the rear for $100 including shipping from quadratec. So all in all it would be around or less than $200 for a shackle lift. They were 1 1/4 inch lift. It's not overly hard to swap the shackles yourself. All you need is the right wrenches, a jack, and a couple of jackstands. I didn't have enough room to put the bushings in the inside of the frame so we had to cut the end off the bushing and put it in in 2 pieces.|

Thanks for the help, and info. I live at the beach and most of our shops are ripp off shops. So thanks for giving me an idea of what it will cost to get things done right. Once I get something done I'll post some pictures.
I may just do a like a 1 inch body lift, I keep hearing it is easy to do yourself. More so on TJ's than YJ,s but still...I am thinking about trying it, and just going up maybe one or two inches in size to mud tires. I have an old Jeep Rusty on the bottom from years here at the beach, and I worry that if I put that much into it (the spring lift) that it would be putting good money on bad so to say. I worry that I'll have trouble myself putting in that little lift, due to rusty bolts etc, anyhow, thats the plan. I may get a new(er) Jeep in 3-5 years, and perhaps then I'll get me a big boy lift done right then.
I have about 400 bucks extra spending money a month, so just to get this done will be almost 2 months, and I really want something to get me out on the beach before summer is over.

|yburn||If your looking for tires you should look into TSL supper swampers they are fairly cheap and a real good off road tire,and not to bad on the road.I have yet to put mine in the sand but mud there are the sh*t!!!Would think they would be great in the sand sand to!|

Re-gearing (in labor) can cost from $500 if you have "a guy" all the way up to $1000+ if they're ripping you off. Your best bet is to cross-shop. Muscle car and Jeep shops will be different, but gears are gears- you install them pretty much the same no matter what. Gears themselves cost about $3-500 for both axles. Then you want overhaul kits for each axle (shims, new bearings, etc.) which run ~$100-150 per set.
As for when, you can re-gear anytime- it won't hurt anything except your right foot, ability to go 70+, and maybe your fuel economy.
The best thing to do, which is what I had on a sign above my shop's door, is "Do It Once, Do It Right." Save up to where you can afford the lift, wheels/tires, and new gears. If you want to do lockers as well (or at least a rear), do that when you do the gears. Same with beefed up axle shafts. And part II of my motto was "Always Have A Little Something Extra." A.K.A. save some extra $ for incidentals- stuff does break. I can't tell you how many customers ignored this, broke an axle, flat-spotted a tire, cooked their brakes, etc. at the track, and came whining to me that their daily driver now was broken, and they didn't have $ to fix it. Being a complete pushover, I'd often set them up with a "tab," and try to get them back on the road (if they were a return, long-time customer), but you simply can't count on that with a shop these days.
Anyway, at least now you know where you need to be. Check with Jeep Parts - Jeep Accessories - Lift Kits - Free Shipping at 4WS.COM They have whole axle rebuild kits for the D35 (your stock rear axle) with locker, bearings, etc. at a decent savings that would give you an idea on what it would cost (if you wanted to go locker). Maybe I can have it done this winter if I can save the money. How much does Re-Gearing cost? I assume it should be done right after I have the tires put on, which is done right after the lift? I looking at a Grand already....Hmmm maybe should just keep stock tires this time around...for I need tires badly, mine are dryrottiing, but I cant afford everything that I need to do to get larger ones. The gears will help on-road and off, 2wd or 4wd. What re-gearing will do is allow you to compensate for the change in final drive from bigger tires. Since bigger tires increase the final drive (gear ratio in the transmission, gear ratio in the axles and tire diameter make up the final drive), shorter (numerically higher) gears help to compensate for the new tires.
For things like lifts and gears, I'd HIGHLY recommend a good Jeep shop over a generic auto shop, as the installs can be quite involved. If it were a TJ (coil springs), anyone can do the lift easily, as many of them are just a new set of springs and shocks. YJ's get to be more involved. As for the gear install, that requires patience and precision measurement, two things the average 9-5 mechanic won't use- Mark W.

What can I do to my Jeep? (max Tire size?)
I joined after reading this same question from a prior post, and and thought I would ask the same. My Jeep is MUCH more stock than the nice red one. I too am on a budget, so I want to start off with getting the largest tires I can, maybe even mud tires, that would fit on my Stock Aluminum Rims. All I use my Jeep for is fourwheeling in the sand at the beach. I had a machanic at a local shop say 31 x 10.5 R15. Do any of you have this size without a lift kit? I dont want to rub the trim. I hope to get a 2inch Lift on it maybe next summer, but the tires this summer. I like the lights on the bumper idea. Maybe a cool Tire cover to add as well. SPEAKING of spare tire....will that 31 tire fit on the spare mount? If not, what should I do? I know you want a picture...I tried to attach a few, I hope it worked. If so...hope you found the tree frog funny, he helped himself there, and I had to take a pic of it...lol. So...I look forward to advice on the tires etc. Thanks all...
